No Ex-Im lifeline from Boehner
The Hill ^ | June 24, 2014 | Russell Berman

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Tuesday refused to offer a lifeline to the Export-Import Bank, sending another signal that Congress could allow the lending agency’s charter to expire at the end of September.

Boehner has supported the bank in the past, but in response to questions from reporters, he distanced himself from that position and deferred instead to the chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), an outspoken opponent of reauthorization.

“Listen, I have a different job than I had then,” Boehner said following a private House GOP meeting. “My job is to work with our members to get to a place where the members are comfortable. Some people believe that we shouldn’t have it at all. Others believe that we should reauthorize it with significant reforms, and we’re going to work our way through this.”

The Speaker might have been referring to his past votes as a rank-and-file member, but he voiced public support for the Export-Import Bank as recently as 2012, when he praised an agreement to reauthorize its charter that was struck between outgoing Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) and Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.).

Hensarling’s committee is holding a hearing on the bank Wednesday, but no legislation is currently planned.

Supporters of the bank in the business community argue its lending creates U.S. jobs by helping companies reach markets overseas. But critics on the right lampoon it as a prime example of crony capitalism that pads the pockets of giants like Boeing that don’t need taxpayer subsidies.

The bank’s reauthorization had already been in jeopardy due to Hensarling’s opposition, but it took a bigger hit on Sunday when the newly elected majority leader, Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), came out against it.

Boehner referred to the bank as “controversial” and made a reference to a damaging report Monday in The Wall Street Journal that four employees there had been suspended or removed amid allegations that they received gifts or kickbacks.

The Chamber of Commerce and the bank’s supporters in the House are ramping up their lobbying campaign for reauthorization following Cantor’s defeat.

Asked if allowing the charter to expire would hurt the economy, Boehner replied:

“I don’t know. We’re going to continue to work with our members and try to get to a resolution.”

Darrell Issa , Mike Rogers and John Boehner all talk the talk, but refuse to walk the walk, - - - - they are not good for America.

They all whine and moan about being stonewalled by the Commie Obama Administration, but NOTHING effective happens, except for the formation of the Benghazi Committee under Trey Gowdy.

The House RINOs had their chance for OVER FOUR YEARS and have done NOTHING, proving that they are not good for America, PERIOD!

It is time to mow down the not good in the House, ASAP!

Suggested actions:

* “Encourage” your Rep in the US House to force Boehner to resign, before August 1, 2014.

* “Encourage” your House Rep in the US House to force do-nothing Chairmen such as Issa and Mike Rogers to resign, before Labor Day, 2014.

* “Encourage” your House Rep in the US House to publicly support Republicans who have proven that they have placed Country before Party.

While the RINOs may get re-elected to the House, we need to have them as far removed from any leadership role as possible.

The RINOs have failed to even slow down the Obamanation of America, even though they held the power of the purse for four years.

If a RINO cannot be voted out of office, then he/she must be relegated to a position subordinate to a fire-in-the-belly Conservative Republican Representative such as Trey Gowdy.

Early Primary voting begins soon after Labor Day in many States.

Most voters have made up their minds about who to vote for by Labor Day: Tick-tock, FReepers, Tick-TOCK!

Wow, I will believe it when it happens. They are actually shutting down part of the federal government that rewards and pays companies to outsource and avoid paying taxes by setting them up overseas?

Don’t let the export part of the Ex-Im Bank fool you, the main role of this organization is to assist multinationals to move out of America so they can import back to America. Another perfect scam by global free traders, the heat must be on for them to give this up.

Yes. Leadership will not cross House Financial Services Committee, Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) on this (told him as much before the recent leadership vote).
