A bill introduced June 12 by Senator Ed Markey (D-MA), would establish a special envoy at the State Department to coordinate America’s “global response” on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) issues and allow LGBT individuals “who have a well-founded fear of persecution...to seek protection in the United States.”
The International Human Rights Defense Act of 2014 would reinforce the Obama administration’s already established foreign policy position on LGBT rights, including the public funding of overseas LGBT groups.
In addition, the bill would require annual congressional briefings on “the status of the human rights of LGBT people internationally” and institute a “central repository of data on all United States programs, projects, and activities that relate to prevention and response to discrimination and violence against LGBT people.”
“Eighty-two countries prohibit the public support of the LGBT community, promote homophobia across society, or criminalize homosexuality. That is equal to more than 40 percent of the United Nations Member States,” the bill says.
“We’re not going to sit around and permit what we have fought for so hard to be undone,” Secretary of State John Kerry said. “And as I said earlier, LGBT rights are human rights and human rights are LGBT rights, so we will protect them, period.”

This has been covered extensively on FR. While I can't cite the exact references off the top of my head, 1 was a U.S. study done ~1993 and the other was conducted in the U.K. ~ 2012. They both found similar results, i.e., ~3% of the total population identified as homosexual. Interestingly the % for lesbians was about half that of male homosexuals.

First of all, where did all the LBGTs come from? There seem to suddenly be as many of them as Straights. Here’s my thinking on this:
Men want sex more than women, so they marry other men. Women do NOT fall asleep immediately after sex, so they get a bit of hugging, etc. after the act, which is so important to them, so they marry other women.
But this doesn’t account for the extreme numbers we see from the DemocRATS. It’s a muslim plan for dividing the country so they can take it over. We haven’t had as much so-called information crammed down our throats since the last few years. Does this say anything about who or what has produced the figures on the amount of LGBTs?
I just realized homosexuals will be coming to the USA to “escape” discrimination. Lord, the USA is going to lose all G-d’s grace. Maybe it’s time to move!

Geez Louise ... can't you even keep up with the thread - LGBT? You were the 1 proudly beating your chest that ME separated from MA because MA went too far "left" back in the 19th century. You could have at least provided more info on the ME secession movement back then and currently - that was part of my intent of questioning you. And since the thread was about LGBT in MA/USA, I was hoping you would provide an insider's insight into the ME gubernatorial race and Michaud's chances. You still have time to respond in a civil manner, should you choose to tread the higher path.
