On Thursday, Kirtland Air Force Base will host an event that just three years ago could have cost many airmen their careers the first-ever Team Kirtland LGBT Pride Picnic.
The significance of this event is, for me, the normalization of us (the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community) as part of the Air Force community, said David Hardy, the civilian director of the Air Force Research Laboratorys Directed Energy Directorate at Kirtland and head of the events coordinating committee.
I like seeing that, finally, openly, it is recognized that the LGBT community is part of the Air Force family.
Hardy, who has been openly gay for decades, said his homosexuality has never been an issue in his professional career.
Although the Defense Department has supported gay pride events since 2012, it wasnt until this year that Air Force officials directed Kirtland and other bases to add Pride Month to the existing list of seven special observances, which range from Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month to a Holocaust Remembrance.
This event will now be included in our normal cycle of yearly celebrations of the ethnic and other diversity elements of our population here on base, Hardy said.

As a former AF officer, I am deeply ashamed of this. I pity the poor airman being forced to participate in this. Sadly, a few probably think its a great idea, and they are running the asylum these daze.
Ah yes, the annual proud to be a pervert picnic. How fabulous.
I say we invite a squadron of Putin’s armed forces to Kirtland for the picnic and give them moral enforcement authority.
Never in my life could I conceive of my country devolving into such depravity.
America has truly descended into madness. There’s really no doubt left in my mind that the country is in a death-spiral.
While we’re being open about things, how about Commie pride month.
Well as Abraham Lincoln would ask, If you call a dogs tail a leg, how many legs does a dog have? Five, his audience would invariably answer. No, hed politely respond, the correct answer is four. Calling a tail a leg does not make it a leg.
Gee, guess to what stage the DoD has been driven? Destruction of America from within; Satan knows what he's doing.
IOW, the United States Air Force now officially promotes that cheering on two men who stick their penises into one another is morally on par with memorializing children who were gassed to death and burnt in ovens.
Idn't that special?

CORRECTION: “Kirtland to host anal LGBT Pride Picnic”
Wow, my Dad was stationed at NASWF there when I was a child. We lived in Wherry Housing between kirtland and Sandia. How low we’ve gone from the family events, and parades on base to the celebration of debauchery and perversion.
Madness.
I guess they are proud they can get together and put their hot dogs in the buns.
My friend said it sounds more and more like the muslims are right - The US IS Satanic and needs to be destroyed? Wow . . . Too bad they are just as bad.
So “Made in USA” is now a warning label?
Yes, the PPP
Free hot dogs smothered in KY! How ‘bout that FUNdeMENTALly transformed Air Force.
