Democrats Put Cochran Over The Top

You have to hand it to the GOP establishment. When their interests are threatened, they pull out all the stops. They demonstrated that in dragging GOP senator Thad Cochran across the finish line in tonight’s runoff in Mississippi.

Imagine if a tea-party candidate in some state had openly appealed to registered Libertarians to help him win a close primary runoff. There would have been howls of outrage that people who didn’t agree with Republican values on social issues and foreign policy were being invited to decide a GOP race. Well, Thad Cochran’s allies performed a version of that ploy tonight by openly encouraging liberal Democrats to vote in the primary. Turnout was up by some 15 percent from the June 3 contest between Cochran and Chris McDaniel. The New York Times reported that “turnout increased by 92 percent in Jefferson County, the county where black voters represent the largest share of eligible voters in the country.”

Not conservative, Republican. Conflate the two at your own risk.

Disgusting. And how much did the party spend on supporting this decrepit hack? I want to know so I can throw that back in their faces the next time they ask me for money.

Mississippi is socially conservative (some of the toughest pro-life laws in the country, the most church-going State, etc.), but economically to the left of Marx.

Despite the stereotype of having crazy politicians, Mississippians prefer having boring, behind-the-scenes Representatives and Senators who are skilled at Retail politics and the Art-of-the-Deal. They prefer their politicians well-trained, with pedigrees beginning with being from in the proper fraternity at Ole Miss (or Jackson State for black politicians), clerking and then working on the staff of some Representative or Senator, getting elected to the State Legislature, waiting their turn to be elected to Congress.

These politicians are skilled at bringing home the pork for our State, never realizing that so much dependence on Gubmint money is one of the things keeping the State 50th in most categories.

Mississippi's Congressmen have thick Southern accents when they're back home, but the accents usually leave once they get to Washington.

Don’t vote for the Democrat, just leave that line blank. Don’t sell your soul to the Dark Side for spite, just don’t play that line on your card.

Was it not enough that Romney and Rove put in Obama
in 2008 by attacking Gov. Palin as the GOP was winning?

Was it not enough that Romney and Rove put in Obama
in 2012 by ONLY attacking conservatives?

Why are Romney and Rove helping Obama AGAIN in 2014
by using democrats to fix GOP primaries?

The Plan:

Announce a national GOP Solidarity Press Conference. State that a Write in campaign will be organized immediately. The effect of this would be to throw the election to the Democrat and possibly the Senate back to the Democrats. Stress TeaParty support for the GOP and this is only being done for loyalty reasons to bring in all voters, including Democrats so that “all the people” are brought in to the big tent of the GOP.

And voting FOR Cochran is going to fix what?

I am with you brother. We will get screwed no matter what side of the establishment wins.

And in Nov., those Blacks will be voting Democrat, as always. But will conservatives who were cheated in this run-off turn out to vote for Cochran? If they do, they are really stupid.

I hope the pig loses in the general election.

I wonder if Thad will actually campaign in Mississippi between now and November? He might get pelted with overripe produce, or something.

I read that Mississippi gets $2 back for every dollar it sends to Washington. Got to keep that gravy train going.

I’m sure “The Party” is now telling/bribing McDaniels to cool his heels. Bide his time and promising him that this is Thad’s last run and he is next in line. That promise will hold only till MS’s current governor, Phil Bryant, runs for Cochran’s seat next time.

The only way the GOP will learn not to keep dissing our guys is to run against them in the general. I agree that McDaniel could win a 3-way race.

A write in campaign CAN win.

Look at the June 3 results here:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-tran/elections/2014-primaries-june3

(Mississippi results are down the page)

Notice the top vote getter that night was McDaniel. The ENTIRE Democrat slate didn’t get HALF the votes of EITHER Republican.

I don’t think Cochran will get DEMOCRAT votes in the general election, do you?

McDaniel could repeat what he did on June 3 and be the next Senator from Mississippi.

The 2014 elections are gonna be a wipeout for the Democrats. It wouldn’t hurt to have a Conservative Democrat like Dave Childers be the only Democrat gain this November.

Probably will. Once they get to Washington, they pretty much goose-step to Komrades Reid, Schumer, and Pelosi.

The only way it would be different is if the GOP wins 9-10 Senate seats and 45-60 Representative seats. Then Childers will be under a lot of pressure to switch to the Republicans.

I also fully expect the Democrats to keep John Boehner in the Speaker's chair, too.

The New Republican Party has become the puppets of Democrats.
