1. I was NOT comparing Reagan with Cochran in my post.

2. I was simply wondering why democrats voting for a republican is bad by itself. We all know demograahics in the country favor more every day. So ALL republicans can use democrat crossover votes.

2. I agree 100% Reagan NEVER disparaged another republican.
That was one his most sterling qualities.

4. What may be bad about crossover votes by democrats in this primary is that 99% of them will vote for the Rat in general. I understand that.

5. I was rooting for McDaniel to win here, never for Cochran.

6. In my honest opinion, McDaniel narrowly lost this primary election because he was too honest. Unfortunately that does not work today. He could have been more conciliatory to all factions. It is very difficult to win from only conservative voters. That is just the reality today. That does NOT mean conservatives should compromise principles. But if they want to win, they must learn to sugarcoat the message. Reagan was a master at that. I remember watching his every speech on TV. I became a US citizen in 1970 and have followed politics closely since then.

1. Yes you were comparing conservative democrats on their own voting for Reagan and conservative principles in a general election with liberal democrats being courted by liberal principles, ways and means and slanderous tactics to decide the vote in a republican primary.

2. You feel the intentional subversion of republican primaries by the democrats is a good thing. Got it!

3. What was done in Mississippi was not just disparaging another republican, it was disparaging to every member of the party because the will of the party was subverted.

6. Your opinion sounds like RINO patronizing. You feel McDaniel lost because he could not lie and stab people in the back like RINOs. By forgetting the fact that the opposition party and their tactics were employed by the eventual so-called winner, your premise is wrong. McDaniel won the republican vote last night. He lost the democrat vote and that is what gave Cochran the win over the will and desires of the entire republican party and its voters.

I’ve been a US citizen all my life. Before you became a citizen in 1970. I have never in my life heard Reagan sugarcoat and tell lies the way you imagine he did.

Other than cochran calling conservatives a bunch of racists and getting the Black vote to come out for him McDaniel wins this going away. McDaniel was a very credible candidate. The problem with "sugar coating" the message is voters don't know what to believe or expect from the candidate.

I can remember voting for candidates that were "soft" thinking that they would be tough once they were in office and every time they let me down. As I watch this country decline my thinking is if the candidate isn't a conservative there is no point in voting.

Reagan was not a soft message guy. He was tough as nails. People often think he was soft because he was smooth, relaxed and jovial. He stuck to his principals when all those around him wavered. We need leaders that are tough conservatives.
