The counter counterculture uprising social conservatives promised us after the Supreme Court's neutering of the Defense of Marriage Act never quite manifested....
But in the days before the high court delivered its rulings on DOMA and California's Proposition 8, Tony Perkins, the president of the Christian conservative Family Research Council, was desperately admonitory that the country's top jurists not invite ruin on America by accurately interpreting the Constitution. "If the Supreme Court steps in and says, 'We're redefining marriage, same-sex marriage will be the law across the land,' it will create a firestorm of opposition," Perkins' Magic 8-Ball warned. "This will be the straw that broke the camel's back. When you have a nation that is so divided along these moral and cultural issues, you could have a revolt. A revolution. You will see Americans saying, 'You know what? Enough of this.' It could explode and just break this nation apart."
Only it didn't. To the contrary, when the National Organization for Marriage rallied last week outside the US Capitol, the depressed turn out resembled something closer to a rained-out swap meet of the confused and dejected than the cavalry riding to rescue our republic from the nine bogeymen in black robes.
It must be a lonely existence on the front lines of the revolution, because America is sending Perkins no reinforcements. Instead, it's assembling opposite him. The unbroken string of judicial victories for equal marriage has not engendered "a firestorm of opposition," but only cemented public opinion on the matter: The coalition for marriage is an uncommonly durable one, swelling with each passing day....

While conservatives like Palin and Cruz defended DOMA, non-conservatives like Paul, opposed it
They refuse to combat cultural Marxism, and the culture becomes more and more culturally Marxist because of it. The GOP-E keep nominating Pro-Homosexual-Agenda judges when they are in power, and the Court keeps moving Left on cultural issues because of it, codifying that cultural Marxism into law.
The majority of the people in this country are still right-of-center on Social Issues. It's not as large as it used to be, but we are still the majority. And with each court case that persecutes Christians for not being slaves to homosexuals and their agenda, the pro-gay tide will peak, and then and subside a little bit.
I don't want a more Liberal GOP. The day this party becomes just about money, I hope they fail to win an election at any level nationwide.
The resistance to deviant “marriage” may not be vocal but it is solidifying. These “good news for queers” stories are wishful thinking. Perversion may become the law of the land but it will never be God’s law. And good people will continue to follow an authority far beyond a few “black-robed boogeymen.”
Genesis 19 and Romans 1 and Galatians 6:7 say otherwise.....
Wickedness will NOT stand.
Um, yeah, because Obama has us focusing on his stunning arrogance by acting unilaterally. Don’t mistake our current inattention for acceptance.
I agree. The GOPe is nothing more than tossing around a few slogans and getting OUR uninformed voters to vote against their interests. They scream, pass out some bumperstickers and everyone goes home thinking something was accomplished until they realize 6 months later nothing was.
Imagine if our Tea Partiers that sat on their a**es the other day actually got out and voted in MS. What a different day this would be.
I agree.2020 and certainly 2024 may be all she wrote. The GOPe has declared was on the one demographic that supports them ... us.
DOMA :
This Act may be cited as the Defense of Marriage Act.
No State, territory, or possession of the United States, or Indian tribe, shall be required to give effect to any public act, record, or judicial proceeding of any other State, territory, possession, or tribe respecting a relationship between persons of the same sex that is treated as a marriage under the laws of such other State, territory, possession, or tribe, or a right or claim arising from such relationship.
In determining the meaning of any Act of Congress, or of any ruling, regulation, or interpretation of the various administrative bureaus and agencies of the United States, the word 'marriage' means only a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife, and the word 'spouse' refers only to a person of the opposite sex who is a husband or a wife.
Regarding DOMAs Section 2 which is evidently still in effect, please note the following. The states have delegated to Congress, via the Constitution, the specific power to decide the effect of one states records in the other states as evidenced by the Full Faith and Credit Clause, Section 1 of Article IV. And Section 2 of DOMA seems to be a reasonable example of the exercising of such power.
Also, what disturbs me about the Court striking down Section 3 of DOMA is the following. The Supreme Court had historically applied common law to protect one man, one woman marriage as evidenced by Reynolds v. United States, 1878 . Note that common law is a constitutional term as evidenced by the 7th Amendment. So activist justices arguably ignored case precedent for federal policy on traditional one man, one woman marriage by finding Section 3 unconstitutional.
I don't remember seeing anything in Revelations that could refer to the United States participating in the final battle(s) here on earth - perhaps because we will have become irrelevant.
There’s only One whose opinion ultimately matters, and that’s God. He detests homosexuality and our nation, collectively, will continue to feel His wrath until our nation repents. We deserve complete oblivion.
I think we are on the same page.
In private maybe, or deep in their hearts. But not in public. Ordinary people can't even function in the workplace without giving lip-service to every deviant design to come from the fertile minds of the cultural elite. And once you do that, you start to believe it yourself.
There is no revolution among the people, but only among, judges, the Hollywood elite, politicians, the military and corporations. The people who do advocate for gay marriage have been fooled by Hollywood and the non reality of sit-coms that portray a society with homosexuals and even married homosexuals to be peaceful.
Once the people begin to see the true reality and the devastation and destruction brought upon society by legalizing gay marriage, they people will turn to revolt against gay marriage and will succeed that revolution.
As for the revolution, I am seeing that mid-level bureaucrats seem to be the same kind of enablers that the Communist Party was so infamous for planting wherever they could, back in the day.
On that, one action we can take right now is to avoid buying from companies that support leftist causes to the best of our ability.
“The majority of the people in this country are still right-of-center on Social Issues. It’s not as large as it used to be, but we are still the majority.”
Not on this issue, we aren’t. We’re dead-even at best in most of the red states, and have lost the country as a whole. We failed to make a coherent argument to the American people, and if we don’t acknowledge it then we’re going to lose on other issues next.
Kidding ourselves that the country is somehow secretly conservative (after Obama was elected and re-elected!) blinds us to the real challenges and makes them so much harder.
