****My dad says Carter did something similar. ****
Carter would always make a point of carrying his own suits in a garment bag with a hanger over his shoulder as he boarded an airplane. A good visual, posing as the “regular guy”. Turned out the bag was always empty, just a prop.
Bottom Line: an empty bag being carried by an empty suit.

Twin Cities mom Rebekah Erler, lives in one of the highest tax states in the country in a political system run by liberal Democrats. Minnesota has long been called the land of 10 thousand taxes. She would be far better off packing up and moving to western North Dakota where due to the oil boom she could be making 3 times her salary working at Wal Mart and have half the taxes to pay.

Turns out, Twin Cities mom Rebekah Erler is new to the area. Her last gig was as a field organizer for Patty Murray out in Seattle, something most of the Mpls press still hasnt told their readers and viewers. See, you really *can't* make this stuff up. MM, there's a link at post 17.

Yes, Jimmy Carter did that at least once. On March 16, 1977, he flew to Hanscom Air Field in Bedford, MA and spent the night at some office manager's house in Clinton, MA - just a few towns away from me. It was part of Carter's mission to "get in touch with the common people."
After giving a town meeting, he went to this guy's house and spent the night in one of his bedrooms. A big ado was made about this at the time and I remember a newspaper picture of Carter and the family yukking it up while sitting on the living room couch. The conversation revolved around the usual "working man can't make it after all the taxes and bills are paid on these wages they are paying us."
Carter flew back to the White House the next day and taxes continued to go up and up and up. Not sure if Carter did any other "common man" visits after that.
