IS THIS THE LIBERAL ENDGAME?
Breitbart's Big Hollywood ^ | June 27, 2014 | David Bossie

Posted on 06/29/2014 12:24:56 PM PDT by Bratch

This week, the trailer for the latest installment in the Hunger Games series, Mockingjay, was released. As I was watching this trailer, something really struck me: the themes touched on in this film are essentially the endgame of today’s American liberalism.

An all-controlling Big Government that forces unity, prosperity; it’s government that calls on you to sacrifice for the greater good. I am not suggesting that today’s Democrat Party will lead us literally to the society depicted in the Hunger Games series, but there are some lessons we can learn when we watch these films based on the dystopian novels.

The Democrats might not be headed there literally, but they sure want to go in the same general direction.

They seem headed toward more of a Harrison Bergeron future where everyone is finally equal and everyone is worse.

There is no liberal endgame. When they’re done with us they’ll start going after each other.

What is the conservative endgame?

I don’t see us, currently advancing the interests of America.

Just saying. We are currently it seems, building up China.

Oh, but I am. Together with their eager collaborators in the gop wing of the uniparty. Capitol looms large in our future.

It’s time for a divorce.

My daughter is heavily into The Hunger Games.

When I watch it with her, I sometimes think that they are trying to depict a future in which liberalism gets everything it wants.

Is that map supposed to reflect rising sea levels and inundation of coastlines?

Radical Egalitarianism where everyone is reduced to the least common denominator in order to achieve a perverse sort of “equality”. You can see it in all of its evil splendor in Common Core.

I am glad some other conservatives are noticing this book/movie series. It was written by a liberal against Bush, but the tyranny fits Obama so much better. It has powerful symbols that allows young people to understand what is happening today in the US. I wish conservatives would take the time to understand this series to be able to speak to young people.

President Snow's Panem Address - "Together as One"

Donald Sutherland plays the president of a country which has a capital that is rich, and a countryside exploited by the capital, exaggerated but not unlike the US.

I think that author is pretty brilliant. Conservatives see conservative themes, liberals see liberal themes, girls like it, my guess is boys would like it too.

Hubby and I listened to them on audiobooks, they were very good. The first one is the best, imho. I mean you have to get beyond that whole children murdering children thing, of course, I can see how people would reject them because of that.

I thought the first movie was awful. If I hadn’t read the book I don’t think I would have understood at all what was going on.

They really should have gone the mini-series route with these books.

it’s government that calls on you to sacrifice for the greater good.

"It is thus necessary that the individual should finally come to realize that his own ego is of no importance in comparison with the existence of his nation; that the position of the individual ego is conditioned solely by the interests of the nation as a whole...that above all the unity of a nation's spirit and will are worth far more than the freedom of the spirit and will of an individual..."

"divorce"

Within five years of split, many millions of the libs would be banging on the conservative wall begging to be let back in. Why? Because the great majority of the leeches vote for Dems. They'll all move to the Dem country. There they would constitute about 50% of the population instead of the present 25%.

Plus, the libs would have the vast majority of the nation's violent criminals. Lib land would be a very nasty place to live without guns for the few law-abiding people. Oh wait, guns would be banned in lib land. Sorry libs, not getting back in without a huge payment on your part.

It’s just like Orwell’s books and to a lesser extant Huxley in that conservatives see the warning signs and detest the dystopian future while liberals take it as a blueprint and embrace overtly or covertly big brother as this is all modern humanism or postmodernism has for hope.

“Within five years of split, many millions of the libs would be banging on the conservative wall begging to be let back in. “

Yes, but unlike the current state of affairs, a conservative autonomous area or region or state or country would likely have strong safeguards to avoid a later invasion. Kind of like how Switzerland operated in the past.

The "means" have become the "end". The want and want and want. Their desire for power has consumed them to the point of blindness of why they wanted power in the first place. Now, that desire is consumed to the point of insatiable appetite. The "means" have become the "end".

It is a fantastic series, and while the author is a lib, it was not written In a right wing bad, left wing good fashion. Basically, all sides can take some horror from it.

Contemporary Gomorrah-on-the-Potomac is very analogous to the Capitol outlined in the series.
