Sens. Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) and Jim Risch (R-Idaho) demanded that the President Obama dispel misinformation regarding U.S. immigration policies, which they say is causing thousands of undocumented children to cross the border.
Lawmakers have grown increasingly concerned about the thousands of unaccompanied minors illegally crossing the border.
The current crisis at our border is a direct consequence of the administrations dangerous, piecemeal approach to reforming our broken immigration system, Crapo said. Backdoor executive orders have the potential to spread misrepresentations of current immigration policies a situation we are unfortunately seeing play out at the border.
Crapo and Rischs comments came after Obama pledged to take more executive actions to advance immigration reform since the House has refused to act. The Senate passed a bipartisan immigration reform bill last year.
Obama previously made the executive order to defer the deportation of undocumented immigrants that were brought to the United States by their parents. Republicans say this action is causing children in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras to risk crossing the border despite the fact that the executive order doesnt apply to children entering today.
The President must send a clear signal to those seeking to enter the country illegally that the U.S. will uphold our immigration laws to the fullest extent, Crapo said. We simply do not have the resources to deal with this recent surge.
Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) has refused to take up the Senate-passed bill, which would provide a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants inside the United States, increase student and worker visas, and spend more to secure the border. Republicans say the administration hasnt shown good faith by enforcing existing immigration laws.
No one should be rewarded for breaking the law, Risch said. The president and his administration have turned a blind eye to the crisis at our nation's border for far too long at the expense of American citizens. It is time to enforce the laws we currently have in place.
Another big pile-o of some pretty Risch Crapo.
And Obama plays golf.
It is a corollary of the rule of never letting a crisis go to waste.
First you create a problem, then you offer to fix it.
He’ll never do it. I’m pissed. No matter what they tried, Red China and the old Soviet Union could not bring down the United States of America. Whodda thunk all it would take was just one scumsucking Kenyan with a phone, a pen and a race card?
Impeach. Impeach. Impeach.
The Speaker’s lawsuit to force Obama to enforce the law might just focus on Obama’s failre to protect our borders.
Obama’s duty is clear and his failure is clear.
Most Americans want this invasion STOPPED!
Democrats? Not so much....
What is it about violating the oath of office don’t our elected representatives understand?
This president must be removed from office at once.
The current crisis at our border is a direct consequence of the administrations dangerous, piecemeal approach to reforming our broken immigration system, Crapo said.
Is he taking a veiled shot at Boehner and Raul Labrador?
It’s good to see some senators at least trying to bring attention to this...even if they will probably be audited by the IRS now...
Which Congressional Committee will investigate the want ads to hire consultants for “...65,000 unaccompanied children...” that the government advertised in January?
Demand? Ha.
The only realistic option now is massive civil disobedience by the people because the military can't step in, the courts can't act, and the Republicans are the biggest group of cowards since Iraqi soldiers surrendered to video cameras in the Gulf War.
Stop it. You'll make Boehner cry.
IT CAN'T BE SHOUTED LOUDLY ENOUGH! THOSE EFFING PUTOS IN MEXICO ARRESTED A U.S. MARINE AND HE'S STILL IN JAIL. WHY CAN'T AMERICA DO THE SAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's exactly what's going to happen. Law-abiding people will simply thumb their nose at the government, and be classified as criminals. Pretty soon the government will announce purges, like in the movie where people can commit all the crimes they want for 12 hours.
