Army Fires Officers After Ordering Them to Move
Fox ^ | June 30, 2014 | Amy Bushatz

Posted on 07/01/2014 8:31:09 PM PDT by george76

The Army last week began notifying about 1,100 captains that they will be purged from the ranks. The same fate is awaiting about 500 majors, who beginning this week will be told their active-duty careers are over. They're among nearly 2,500 officers and NCOs who will be involuntarily separated this year as part of an ongoing drawdown of forces.

...

some officers who were let go are scrambling to find a home, as well as a job. Thankfully for the captain who's expecting his first child, his landlord is allowing him and his wife to continue to rent the house at their current location without any hassle. He just wishes the Army gave him more answers.

Of course this order does not apply to women, members of minority groups qualified for Affirmative Action, LBGT people, those who actively support Obama, or former prisoners of jihadists who cooperated with their captors.

This is only fair, as the officer corps and NCO Cadre contains altogether too many possibly useful white men whose very existence causes the above group members to suffer a potential loss of self-esteem.

How long before Odierno and all the other top guns realize that and actually do something about it?

Long overdue.

It happens on this scale upon the end of a war (Korea, Vietnam, Cold War) when we shrink the force. What is sad is that we will need them again when Barry’s chickens come home to roost and we need to grow the force rapidly again. Look what happened to Ted Williams and his peers 5 years after WWII

This article claims it is because of sequestration. The only area of government that actually has to shrink is the military. Everything else gets to keep bloating beyond our ability to EVER sustain it.

At some point the top dogs in the military need to look at how Obama has lifted and helped our terrorist enemies in every way possible, and has shafted Americans - ESPECIALLY in the vital functions that the Constitution mandates, such as military and border enforcement - and realize that Obama is a foreign enemy combatant, put into the White House through the crimes of his puppet-masters for the express purpose of destroying this country from within. And then they need to do something about it.

Actually, we have a gay/married/hispanic member is on her way out.

We have Black, White, Brown getting the boot.

The squadron/group/wing level leaders are not saving minortiies from the RIF.

This is being done on purpose by Obama.

May they all join the militia to fight this evil.

In the late ‘70s, I knew a Major that was coming up on 18 years service. The rule then was you had to be notified that you were being RIF’d prior to the completion of 18 years or you were allowed to stay in until 20 years. He had a buddy working in personnel at the Pentagon who told him he was on the list. The Major went on leave for 45 days, and couldn’t be located until after he had 18 years in.

I’ve commented prior about the ‘cleaning ranks’...

...this is just more of the same.

I think you’re spot-on.

RIF is tough. Prayers to the families.

Many of these retirees will have to be brought back as well paid contract workers to keep the systems functioning.

.
Now why can’t they do the same with government bureaucrats?

The rank of O-3 (Captain in the Army)is always vulnerable when a RIF comes around. There are just too many of them and too few slots to fill. When you see someone has been a captain for ten years and the like, without promotion, you know they are "supernumerary."
