WESLACO - The spread of scabies, chicken pox and other diseases within Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol facilities may be getting out of control, a leader with the agents' union said.
National Border Patrol Council Local 3307 Vice President Christopher Cabrera said the federal government is not serious about solving the problem.
Cabrera said agents have to deal with health issues affecting the immigrants. He said agents are encountering many sick immigrants, including women and children.
Cabrera said the agents are beginning to contract some of those diseases.
"I see it as a big mess. Unless we get serious about fixing this ... we're spinning our wheels," Cabrera said.
The union representative said numbers recently reported in Hidalgo County included only five cases of chicken pox within the immigrant population. He's convinced there are more than the report shows.
"I know a couple of stations ... have gotten three or four or five cases alone," he said.
"You have the stations downriver ... the Cameron County area. Not everybody is going to come forward with the symptoms, but there are quite of few cases of the chicken pox," Cabrera said.
He said scabies also poses a threat. Cabrera said the skin disease appears to be getting out of control. He said about 10 to 15 percent of the immigrant population held in Valley detention centers is being treated for scabies.y About Contagious Diseases

A member of Congress who for more than 30 years worked as a doctor says the baggage that illegal aliens are bringing into the United States now is killing people.
Rep. Michael Burgess, R-Texas, told WND that it’s not suitcases, clothes or the like – it’s the highly infectious cases of drug-resistant and lethal tuberculosis that are walking across the Mexican border.
“It is something I am aware of and it is definitely a factor to consider in the immigration debate,” Burgess said.
Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection that generally attacks the lungs, although it can attack any part of the body. The disease is easily spread when an infected individual coughs, sneezes or even talks in the presence of another person. If not properly treated the disease can be fatal.
The disease has been around since ancient times and tuberculosis was once the leading cause of death in America. Among the disease’s victims was the legendary Doc Holiday, who died in a tuberculosis ward in Colorado Springs.
While the 20th century development of antibiotics resulted in the disease being virtually eradicated in America by the 1960s, in recent years TB has been making a comeback with new strains that are resistant to most antibiotics.

I posted on another thread this a.m. that a gentleman that was at the Murietta protest was on Fox & Friends this morning. He said his granddaughter was recently diagnosed with Hoof and Mouth disease - said the doctor had seen several recent cases - - 1st in a long time or ever. They’re are expecting another bus today and there will be protestors there again.
There’s also TB and measles. I’ve read reports on FR that the med personnel and others are saying they’re seeing many many case of heads full of lice to the point they’re crawling down the faces, etc. And, I’ve heard on TV and I believe read that there are also cases of leprosy - something not seen, at least in this country, for a very long time.
I feel badly that these kids are suffering with these diseases as well as in other ways. Let’s vaccinate, clean them up, give them a few meals and send them back to their country of origin.
Problem is they’re being shipped all over the country, which a) gives a much better chance of infecting our kids and citizens (wonder if Obummercare is going to pay for all the additional healthcare needs of our kids and citizens), and b) means they will probably be never be found - - as I understand it, they’re not really being tracked - many are being released to foster families or “family members” (read an article on FR that many of the so called family members are bogus). I think the spreading of these illegals around the country is part of BO and ValJar’s plan. What a mess - - just like the rest of Obummer’s _residency.
BTW- the guy in the picture doesn’t look like a little child that Sheila J Lee thinks we should give lollipops to. Though I am sorry he’s got this disease. He needs to be mendicated and go back to his home.
I guess we’ll never see these images on the evening “news.”
Also, the word “immigrant” is used at least four times in the above story. These are NOT immigrants!
