A new warship to be named the USS Detroit will be commissioned in a 2016 ceremony along the Detroit River. The 389-foot long, 7.5-million-pound littoral combat ship, shown here in a June 27 photo, is being built in Marinette, Wis. It will sail after the Detroit ceremony to its home port in San Diego. In other news there was another senseless shooting last night in the USS Detroit’s Gunnery 2 section. Two seamen and an Ensign were killed. This makes the forth shooting this month. Crewmen have been requesting reassignment to the USS Suburbs.
USS Rochester Hills perhaps?
Detroit has freer gun laws than our military bases which is one reason the crime rate in the city is in a free fall. The murder rate is down between 25 and 30 percent this year.
I've been reading bad things about this class of ships for a few years now. She is a waste of money that will get her crew killed in combat.

The powers that be thinking is that the next war will be fought in the littorals (shallow water. No need for a true blue water navy. We have no more enemies with carriers and subs. We will only be fighting pirates in speed boats hence the use of only a 57mm auto cannon.
