Hundreds of customs and immigration agents are being investigated for corruption near the border, according to The Washington Times, citing estimates from an analysis of Immigration and Customs Enforcement records.
The data was taken from redacted reports from the agency obtained though the Freedom of information Act, which showed that at least six federal immigration agents are being probed for illegally snooping on law enforcement databases.
The information also revealed that one Customs and Border Protection officer is being investigated for possible links to a "drug-trafficking organization that has utilized compromised law-enforcement officers in the past," the Times reported.
Border analyst James Phelps, a professor at Angelo State University in Texas who reviewed the data, estimated that as many as 300 border officers are under investigation for corruption.
Phelps said that having a corrupted official with access to law enforcement databases creates more opportunities for drug cartels or human traffickers to pay off other officers.
"How do you corrupt someone like that? Its real easy," he told the newspaper. "You offer them more money in a weekend than they make in an entire year. If you can get a hold of a persons drivers license, you can find out everything the works.
"If the cartels can identify an agent by name and find out where they live, they can come and make an offer. Take our money and turn a blind eye, or we kill your mom. Down in Mexico, the cartels have no problem doing that, and thats where you have a lot of agents fail."
While declining to discuss specific cases in the records, ICE spokeswoman Gillian Christensen said:

Kinda like the Islamist. Yep, we’re being taken over. It’s not going to be pretty.
Mostly, the corruption probe is so that they can put the whole force under a gag order...
Cloward-Piven.
Reduce the border patrol even further, creating an even larger flow of illegals.
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Perfect opportunity to say to the administration, “we are taking the funding for those 16k IRS agents and either moving it over to ICE for the immediate hiring of 10k agents or to the border states National Guards units.
Let Obama make the call.
Twenty guys gone bad, possibly, but doubtful. Three hundred strains credulity.
Are they cherry picking corrupt agents to keep? Odd this stuff's coming out now - interesting timing... more than a coincidence?
Well, the ‘good guys’ in the ‘leadership’ won’t follow ANY rules........
Why should the underlings????
Are we approaching fox/henhouse?
Analyst: 300 Border Agents in Corruption Probe
Oh, really!?
"Any chance Obama's people have done an equivalent of "fast and furious' by cherry picking agents to remove?

Sorry 'bout that.
Check out # 8 , or # 11.

Yep.
Don't be shocked. Even the Kaiser's Intelligence Agents used it, as did the Communists throughout the interwar period, al qaida, and now Team Obama. BTW, one cannot expect Border Patrol Agents to be incorruptible in the service of a corrupt administration.

“Or HUMAN TRAFFICKERS”
This is what 0 is enabling.
Thanks Polosec for the post!
LucyT, Moseley, ping to this excerpt of the post!
Thanks very much for the ping; post.
Interesting point.
Research backs you up on this Kenny Bunk... turns out MORE employees steal from their companies if they perceive upper management as corrupt.
That said, I doubt SEALS are stealing wet suits because the Obama Administration's lawless. If Border Patrol Agents are acting unethically in an open fashion it's time to replace them with a completely new organization. This type of stuff might be understandable but it's not acceptable.
