McDaniel Campaign Manager: I'll Never Support 'Race Baiting' Cochran

Mississippi state Sen. Chris McDaniel's (R-MS) campaign manger, state Sen. Melanie Sojourner (pictured), vowed to never endorse Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS), who Sojourner said is guilty of using race baiting tactics in order to win the runoff for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.

Here's the full text of Sojourner's Facebook post:

Throughout my campaign and since I've repeatedly made comments about how I felt the Republican Party was doing itself a disservice by not reaching out to conservative African-Americans. Where I'm from, in rural Mississippi, I grew up knowing lots a God-fearing, hard-working, independent conservative minded African-American family's. On the McDaniel Campaign we had two young men from just such family's on our staff.

This is not what the Cochran campaign did. They did not reach out to African-American Democrats based on sharing a vision of conservative principles. No they abandon those beliefs, told out right lies and made vicious attacks against one of Mississippi's most decorated conservative Republican champions and to make it worse used race baiting tactics to take advantage of African-American voters all for the sake of holding onto a seat to feed their money grubbing, greedy, selfish egos.

I'm really tired of hearing some say it's just time we hold hands and get along for the sake of the party. A party that does not stand on conviction is no party at all. A party who abandons it's core beliefs is no party at all. A party who launches heinous attacks against it's on and takes advantage of others is no party at all. For me to ever endorse Cochran would be to say that I can accept or find it ok the tactics he used. That will simply never be the truth. Ever.

From what I’ve read, Childers is Pro-Life, pro-Second Amendment and anti-Amnesty.

Cochran played to the Democrats to win the primary. Let him go to them for votes in the general. See how far that gets him.

>> The irony is that the NRA is more likely to endorse Travis Childers because he is the most conservative between Cochran and Childers. <<

I think you’re wrong. It’s my understanding that the NRA looks ONLY at votes on gun issues. Cochran already has an “A” rating on that score. Even if the NRA also rates Childers with an “A” — based presumably upon his answers to the NRA questionnaire — they still will endorse the incumbent, as a sort of “reward” for his past votes.

>> So get the write-in campaign going NOW <<

You need to check the Mississippi laws on the matter. Write-ins would count only if Cochran dies or withdraws before the general election.

>> Very good Melanie, obviously Conservative is a real word with real meaning to you and therefore you are principled <<

Maybe so, but she hurts the Conservative cause when her press release indicates she might have flunked English 101. She can’t live up to the standards of Cruz and Lee when she seems not to know the difference between the possessive and the plural.

She was able to communicate, I understood her. I hope you don’t critique my spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc. Is that you Mrs. Ruffin? You appear to be as sharp as ever, how old are you now 104, 105?

Not to worry:

As long as you don’t issue any mistake-riddeen press releases for some political candidate, I won’t aim any arrows your way!
