COSTCO SURRENDERS TO 'AMERICA' CONSUMERS
WND ^

Posted on 07/09/2014 9:10:15 AM PDT by bryan999

NEW YORK – Amid a flood of opposition from members, Chief Financial Officer Richard Galanti informed WND that the wholesale giant has reversed its decision to remove Dinesh D’Souza’s book, “America: Imagine the World Without Her,” from its stores.

Galanti told WND that Costco’s corporate headquarters in Issaquah, Washington, instructed local stores that had not yet returned the D’Souza book to the vendor to keep the remaining copies on the shelf.

The book will be reordered from publisher Regnery, he said.

“Frankly, because of all the hoo-rah, some Costco locations have sold more of D’Souza’s book today than they sold in the previous four weeks combined,” he said.

Galanti was referring to the outcry in response to WND’s reporting Monday that Costco had decided July 1 to remove the book “America” just as the companion movie of the same name was hitting theaters.

The book was No. 43 on Amazon.com’s bestseller list when WND’s first story broke and now sits at the No. 1 spot overall.

“We are bringing it back, not for political reasons, but because the book is now selling well,” Galanti told WND. “We didn’t pull the book on July 1 for political reasons, and we are not putting it back in the stores now for political reasons. We are doing this because we sell merchandise and D’Souza’s book is now selling well.”

Threaten the income and they always crack. Knowing their politics is all I need to not go back.

Can Regnery refuse to sell them the books? Or would that be like a gay/baker thing?

Folks, I LIKE Costco. They have good products, friendly service, and good prices.

I absolutely hate it that they’re left-leaning.

Same here. You can’t “unscrew” the pooch.

Bet they're still carrying Hillary's book despite its dismal sales, though, aren't they?

I agree. Unfortunately, there are a lot of left-leaning orgs out there.

While I don’t agree with them pulling the book the week the movie was released (dumb move), as I understand it (at least at my local Costco), due to space restraints, they normally primarily stock the top 10 on the NY Times bestseller list. I guess it depends upon location and how much space is available. I bought both of the Rush Revere books for my nephew at my local Costco.

Whenever possible frequent businesses that support freedom. It seems quite foolish to patronize businesses actively working towards the destruction of this nation.

Costco showed their true colors. For now, you have a choice. Remember that the next time you shop.

Now I know this dude is a friend of Obama’s..

Costco can decide what books to sell and for whatever reason.

They can also choose to insult our intelligence.

Neither is a good business plan.

They stepped in it big time, and all this is the stench from their shoe.

They definitely pulled the book for the company’s own political views showing another example of power control; the left-wingers controlling free market abilities. Haha, it backfired. Do you think they will ever do this again. Absolutely. It’s getting to where there’s a long list of stores that I do not spent money with after their business practices :) It’s good to see their customers complained so, that’s good.

COSTCO would do well to leave politics to her customers whose various ‘tastes’ number in the thousands rather than try to dictate what they should read/believe.....careful COSTCO, products from China could be boycotted.....

I've never been in a Costco, or many other such stores, etc.

Lowe's is about at.
