Is my over 65 memory failing me?

Probably less so than my over 75 memory. There were indeed two torx on the bottom but they were so easy to get to they were not memorable. I found many a Mac + with the two torx on the top left out because few people had a long torx screw driver to reach them, once out they stayed out.

Not a problem, setha. Just putting the myth where it belongs. I too had a 9600 way back when. Ugly thing. Most of the 1990 Macs were with the exception of the pizza box Macs. Those were a pretty nice form follows function design and works of art. Easy to open and work on.
