Contraceptive pill may damage women’s fertility: study
LifeSiteNews ^ | 7/9/14 | Catherine Briggs

Taking the pill may damage a woman’s fertility by quickening her biological “clock”, a new study has found.

Researchers in Denmark tested 833 women to see what effect the contraceptive pill had on their reproductive systems. They found that the contraceptive can temporarily drain a woman’s ovarian reserve, a measure of the ovary’s capacity to produce eggs capable of fertilization.

The ovarian reserve is determined by the combination of two measurements which make up what is commonly referred to as the Biological Body Clock Test.  Both the anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) levels in the blood and the antral follicles in the ovaries are measured to establish the ovarian reserve.

The study found that both the AMH levels and the antral follicle measurements were diminished in the women who were on the Pill by 19 and 16 percent, respectively, thus reducing their chances of conceiving.

Dr. Katherine Birch Peterson from the Copenhagen University Hospital, who presented the study to the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology, said that “the pill may mask a severely diminished ovarian reserve… and this is important to recognize."

The research also showed that pill users’ ovaries were between 29-52% smaller than those who were not on the pill.

Though the researchers said they believe the detrimental results of using the pill may only be temporary, they added that further research is necessary.

“We do not believe the pill changes the ovaries in any permanent way. But we still need to know more about the recovery phase after women stop the pill,” said Dr. Birch Peterson.

Dr. Birch Peterson maintains that women should wait three months after using the pill to be tested in order to have a more accurate measurement of fertility.

Okay, let’s go ahead and look at it logically, if you need me.

Abortions in this country, surgical, reported abortions, since recording began in 1973, are 54 million. That’s 1.5 million per year. With 310 million population, not counting settlers from the south and ME, how many is that? Women of childbearing age, that is?

Let’s average 300 million pop for the 40 years since ‘73. It’s 300/2 for female, and quarter that for childbearing age. that’s 150/4, round that to about 40 million women of childbearing age for each year of those 40 years.

Of 40 million, how many women are sexually active and on birth control pill in any and each year? Let’s say 1/3. Or, let’s be generous and say 1/4, for easy rounding.

Ten million per year. Let’s say for any year of sexually active women on the pill there is a 60% effectiveness rate for early abortion - the pill’s intended effect.

What’s that? 600,000 abortions per year for forty years.

What is that? That, by my afternoon, waiting for the appliance repair guy to show up, take a break for a second from chopping vegetables calculation, about 240,000,000 abortions.

I’m sure the CDC has similar but more detailed calculation mechanisms.

The numbers are on their website.

Yes, that’s probably very similar to how they calculated it.

What I meant to follow that sentence up with was: Not all women who want to have sex with men who don’t want to realize it is about childbearing, want to have the abortion when it’s bloody, they’d rather do it early and ignore it.

Just what kind of statistic is this supposed to BE. You might try being actually HELPFUL if you want people to BELIEVE what you are claiming.

Lets say if you want CONSERVATIVES to believe it. Liberals will believe anything that feeds their emotions.

I don’t expect to help on contraception. The truth behind it has been covered up by the AMA, rejected by many who claim to be in the in the Catholic Church, whose teachings are very truthful on it, rejected by most media and health care professionals, and it’s effect on marriage HS been statistically verifiably devastating

People don’t want to hear the inconvenient truth on it

So it’s a helpless situation

I am simply reiterating the title and pointing to the absurdity that people don’t know this basic fact about the pill 50 years after it’s development

I have known 40 year old women with breast cancer, which, btw, non existent in former times, I have known 20 year old women who have had strokes, so when people mumble around with no interest in knowing the danger of the BCP and a nice little headline like this comes out I just re state the obvious

Second hand smoke and global warming get infinite press while NCOs who have been a detriment to our society and have killed ridiculous amounts of women and children/unborn babies, just duh

BCPs mess with hormones. That’s what they’re created for. They seep into the water system and people ingest these chemicals

After so many years finally hospitals have specified waste receptacles for pharmaceuticals What do people do with them at home?

Do we think our government is properly disposing of this stuff ?

A government who pays people to let vets die? And who punishes those who try to stop it?

Do we think pharmaceutical companies instruct us on its danger?

On every pack of BCP there is a 2 point font printout telling people it can upset their fertility to take these pills. Does anyone read it? Do ‘men’reaf this material caring for their sex partners? In pursuit of caring for them and their fertility, preventing stroke and breast cancer?

No

BCPs affect fertility People don’t know this?

Permanently

50 years later that’s a news flash. And from a pro life site hoping to care for its readers. The only publications that care for their readers are pro life sites this would never get published in a main media site

50 years bcps have been on the market.

You’re going to “tell the truth” by hauling a fantasy figure out of your je ne sais quoi... and not even deigning to say what it refers to...

Yup!

No, you renamed it. There is no such statistic from the CDC under the wording you gave.

I mean, CHARITABLY ASSUMING THE BEST, you renamed it.

You go to the CDC asking for those words you say and all you will get is HUH.

This is from the American Life League.

the CDC is not forthcoming certainly not from Google.

THis organization uses statistics from Guttmacher and the CDC

Here is a quote from the site, and it is from 3 years ago:

‘These statistics include only surgical and medical abortions. Because many contraceptive measures are abortifacients (drugs that induce or cause abortions), it is important not to overlook the number of children killed by chemical abortions. Since 1965, an average of 11 million women have used abortifacient methods of birth control in the United States at any given time. Using formulas based on the way the birth control pill works, pharmacy experts project that about 14 million chemical abortions occur in the United States each year, providing a projected total of well in excess of 610 million chemical abortions between 1965 and 2009.

That’s getting a LITTLE closer.

Tracing those “pharmacy experts” back to the data and the claims they used, might unearth the best ties possible back to the sources and allow evaluation of their veracity. Guttmacher, I am as leery of as I am of Kinsey “10% of Americans are gay” Reports.

And keep in mind, that steady usage of most forms of “the pill” stops all ovulation and renders such anti-implantation scenarios impossible. One would have to look into a murky crystal ball and figure out how many people used “the pill” in a non-steady manner.

One does not have to deem such usage to be a godly thing in order to accurately evaluate the magnitude of its effects. By far the largest in-womb death toll is from deliberate abortions, about which people have no doubt about what is happening.

You and every other American who blow off the gravity of birth control can be as leery as you want of Guttmacher and the CDC, The Catholic Church, Common sense, decency and abortion figures.

The American Life League uses the CDC to estimate 610 million chemically induced abortions.

It makes globul warming, Hitler, surgical abortions, second hand smoke and stalin pale in comparison if it is one fifth of their estimate.

The fact is that women and their sex partners don’t care about abortion and killing of innocent life.

So what difference is it if it’s 10 million or 610 million?

None.

Fifty years of this and one barely read prolife publication comes out with ‘it’s bad for fertility’.

Yeah. It would be.

Ah, because “The Catholic Church” is in the middle of something, that makes the rest of it holy...

Luther disagreed. He was right.

As an English teacher, I am often so handicapped in that I try to make calculable sense out of a sentence before I give up and get back to taking care of my family.

THis is one of those times.

If you woan to use an opinion to disagree with the CDC, we are done, here.

You don’t WANT to do that. That is why you “cannot.”

And your defense is to work up the snot.

True. From cancer to a lack of ability to conceive — the pill wreaks its havoc.
