Publishing executives are reportedly 'on notice' for allegedly paying Hillary Clinton $14 million for her highly-anticipated memoir which sold just 161,000 copies in its first three weeks. Sources told the New York Post 'there’s lots of finger-pointing going on at (publisher) Simon & Schuster' over the expensive deal. Although the publisher sent one million copies of 'Hard Choices' to stores, a low 85,000 were sold in the first week before sales plummeted in the subsequent two weeks. The book hit stores on June 10.

I’m not surprised, whoever wrote the book just put down what hillary told him or her. No research or fact checking was allowed.

Watch for them on the 25-cent basket at your local thrift store.

There is a saturation point where even thrift stores won't put a book on a shelf.

The reality is that this book will NEVER make a second printing and probably won't even go paperback. A small percentage of the already printed books will go to discount book stores, but the large majority will just go to the shredder.

Brilliant.
Pay the "author" $86.07/book before publishing & marketing costs (not to include the $50,000,000 free lame stream media publicity).

$35 Retail, not Wholesale, not Cost, Retail.

Printing Costs, Distribution and Advertising add to the Cost.

I would be shocked if the Publisher makes $10 a Copy in Profit. They are so deep in the Hole they can’t look up and see any Sunlight.

$99.38 per book they laid out to Hillary - not including the expenses for actually PRODUCING the book in print ...

161,000? Why the hell would anyone ever buy a book that they don’t intend to ever read? That’s dumb!

Basically, this is a form of money laundering.

My objection is that ex-presidents and those close of them are treated as royalty. People throw money at them. the Bush girls and Chelsea for example. How much money do we devote the the care and protection of the living ex-presidents and their families. Given that none lack means, why not cut it off after, say, ten years?

But the point was to fund her campaign so what’s the problem?

Exactly.
All of these "publishing contracts" by Dems the last 25 years have been thinly disguised laundering schemes.

Up to now, they have gotten away with it.

And of the 161,000 sold at least 100,000 were bought by the NY Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe and LA Times as stocking stuffers for their reporters.

Why the hell would anyone ever buy a book that they don’t intend to ever read?”

You can’t have a study/office in your grand home with empty shelves. It’s all about perception, appearance and image. Over the years I have purchased some awesome books at places like the Junior League Thrift Store, most of which appeared to be brand new, but more than likely had been donated in exchange for a tax deduction.

One of the great things about the aging process is that you tend to forget enough of a book you have read so that reading it again is not a problem.

Perhaps Costco should carry the book...

They do - since June.

Think of all the low level people working for S&S struggling to make ends meet. Just a couple thousand more a year would help them pay the rent or feed the kids. But there’s no money left in the S&S budget because the Clinton’s needed to be paid for all the sacrifices they’ve made supporting the socialist cause.

So ... stay hungry kids. You’ll need that fortitude in the years to come.
