How a campaign move on immigration is haunting Obama now
Washington Examiner ^ | July 9, 2014 | Susan Crabtree

"...............Even with emergency funding gambit, it's unclear whether the Democrats will be able to make political hay out of the border crisis.

The sharp increase in the influx of children immigrants is eroding public approval of how Obama is handling the immigration issue as a whole. Americans approval rating of Obama's handling of immigration dropped to 31 percent, one of the lowest readings since 2010, when Gallup began polling on his handling of the issue.

The survey, released in late June, also found that two in three Americans, or 65 percent, disapprove of his handling of immigration.

The crisis at the border also has attracted new scrutiny of Obama's immigration record.

A leaked May 30 memo by a top Border Patrol official said currently only 3 percent of those apprehended from countries other than Mexico are being sent back.

A recent Los Angeles Times investigation found good reason for the perception that immigrant children would be allowed to remain in the country if they successfully made it across the border.

The number of immigrants under 18 who were deported or turned away at ports has fallen from 8,143 in 2008, the last year of the Bush administration, to 1,669 last year, the Times reported, citing Immigration and Customs Enforcement data released under a Freedom of Information Act request.

Obama is not haunted.

He is loving this.

Not one dime of that money goes to secure the border, did you know that?

$60,000 per invader

How is this not a scandal in itself?

I don’t call submitting an invader to a court process for a later hearing date and then releasing them out into the wild DEPORTATION. That’s what nearly all of the DEPORTATIONS Obama is claiming are.

$60K for a permanent (longer lived) Democrat voter? It’s not the Democrat Party’s money. It’s ours - what do they care?

NRO - Editiors: Send Them Home

VHD: The Moral Crisis on Our Southern Border

.......The media talks of a moral crisis on the border. It is certainly that, but not entirely in the way we are told. What sort of callous parents simply send their children as pawns northward without escort, in selfish hopes of soon winning for themselves either remittances or eventual passage to the U.S? What sort of government allows its vulnerable youth to pack up and leave, without taking any responsibility for such mass flight?

Here in the U.S., how can our government simply choose not to enforce existing laws? In reaction, could U.S. citizens emulate Washington’s ethics and decide not to pay their taxes, or to disregard traffic laws, or to build homes without permits? Who in the pen-and-phone era of Obama gets to decide which law to follow and which to ignore?

Who are the bigots — the rude and unruly protestors who scream and swarm drop-off points and angrily block immigration authority buses to prevent the release of children into their communities, or the shrill counter-protestors who chant back “Viva La Raza” (“Long Live the Race”)? For that matter, how does the racialist term “La Raza” survive as an acceptable title of a national lobby group in this politically correct age of anger at the Washington Redskins football brand?

How can American immigration authorities simply send immigrant kids all over the United States and drop them into communities without firm guarantees of waiting sponsors or family? If private charities did that, would the operators be jailed? Would American parents be arrested for putting their unescorted kids on buses headed out of state?

Liberal elites talk down to the cash-strapped middle class about their illiberal anger over the current immigration crisis. But most sermonizers are hypocritical. Take Nancy Pelosi, former speaker of the House...........

.....What a strange, selfish, and callous alliance of rich corporate grandees, cynical left-wing politicians, and ethnic chauvinists who have conspired to erode U.S. law for their own narrow interests, all the while smearing those who object as xenophobes, racists, and nativists.

How did such immoral special interests hijack U.S. immigration law and arbitrarily decide for 300 million Americans who earns entry into America, under what conditions, and from where?"

“.......Cabrera says the Rio Grande Valley has nine stations and the largest one, in McAllen, Texas, has a capacity of approximately 275 people. Cabrera says this station is seeing between 700 and 1,500 people daily and received 74 women and children in a 20-minute period earlier this week. Cabrera says he thinks the surge in unaccompanied children crossing the border is policy-based.

He says the Border Patrol stations in the Rio Grande Valley are short-term facilities, not designed to hold people for more than a couple of days. As a result, Border Patrol officials have taken responsibility for the well-being of the illegal immigrants, providing sandwiches and water three times a day. “You would not believe how many sandwiches I’ve made over the course of my career,” Cabrera says. In Nogales, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials have brought in vendors to provide food, while FEMA has sought to provide counseling and recreational activities, according to FoxNews.com. Cueto says the children are being vaccinated before being turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials. ICE is then transporting them to military bases in California, Oklahoma, and San Antonio, Texas, according to CBS Houston.

“It’s just frustrating to know that we do all this paperwork just for them to walk out the door,” Cabrera says. “When these people get released they call back home and they say, ‘Hey, you know what? We got released, and if you come with your family they’re going to release you as well.’”

Both Cabrera and Cueto said local Central American media have played a role in encouraging the children to cross the border. Cabrera says he knows of television commercial spots that encourage people to go to the U.S. with their children because they won’t be turned away. KRGV Channel 5 News, in the Rio Grande Valley, reported that a mother and daughter traveled to America because they believed America’s borders to be open after Guatemalan news reports that said mothers and small children are getting bus tickets. “I said I need to act right now because this will end and my girl won’t have a future,” the mother said in Spanish to KRGV. Cueto says when he asked a group of children about their motivation, they spoke of the “announcer on the radio” who encouraged them to head for the United States. Cueto says Central American radio, television, other media, and religious groups have all encouraged people to move north to the United States.”

Haunting Obummer?

No, it’s all part of his imperial ambitions. Flood the red states and give the border states to LaRaza. And I believe he is not about to relinquish power in January 2017, and by imperial fiat.

No Miss Crabtree...not a Haunting...this is something heavy on my heart.

Wait till the illegals start infringing on the “takers” by getting more handouts than they do. We may then see a turn against odumbo by the blacks but not until it effects them.

So this whole mess is a direct consequence of our politicians refusing to enforce the laws or enact immigration reform (real reform, not amnesty).

A few years ago, CA voters enacted a simple law that would have been quite effective if enforced--it required that all parents enrolling kids in schools had to provide evidence of citizenship or legal residency. Although these documents are already part of the paperwork required to enroll kids in school, the open borders activists fought against the law on the pretext that it would create an unnecessary burden on the schools. The fight went on for years, until Gray Davis (IIRC) was elected and dropped the case. This is just one example of a simple measure that can prevent much illegal immigration, simply by removing a reward for doing so.

There are a lot of carrots that we could eliminate to help stem the tide. Making the borders stronger is not much help when the rewards are so great that illegals willingly risk death in order to get them.

Meanwhile..... June 9, 2014

“The Senate voted 71-26 Wednesday to confirm Julián Castro as secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Castro will replace Shaun Donovan, who had held the Cabinet position since President Obama’s first term. Obama has nominated Donovan to serve as director of the Office of Management and Budget.

Castro is currently serving as mayor of San Antonio, Texas, while his twin brother, Joaquin, represents Texas in the U.S. House. Both brothers spoke at the Democratic National Convention in 2012 and are considered rising stars in the Democratic party.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) met with Castro earlier this week to talk about how the housing crisis is still negatively affecting the economy.

“While we have made progress, we are not out of the woods yet,” Reid said after their meeting. “We must continue to provide housing assistance to those who need it.”.........

Shouldn’t the mothers of Kenya’s children be outraged that Obama isn’t providing them safe harbor in the US as well? Or Indonesia for that matter?
