The motivation for the short-stains tht drew this district is not the preservation of the country - it is raw power. Ultimately, the outcome is the same.

You present a false choice: cheat or be rolled.

Cheating to accomplish your goals is destructive, regardless the side you are pushing; and make no mistake, drawing these types of districts is plain cheating, with or without the VRA.

Neither the judge’s motivation, nor your opinion of him, changes the fact that District 5 is in clear violation of the law, and whoever drew it are cheating, thieving scumbags.

No, sir, that’s not cheating. A GOP legislature drawing a majority of seats for itself is simply not cheating. It is exercising its rightful power to do so for the benefit of the majority voting preferences of its constituents. If we did it your way, and unnecessarily cede power to the opposition, we’d find ourselves in the permanent minority.

“Cheating” would be running an election and seating the loser if they were on our side.

I notice you ignored my examples of Arizona and California with its “fair and impartial” (sic) “Independent” redistricting boards.

In clear violation of what law ? A leftist partisan pissant judge overstepping his boundaries again, that’s the only “violation” here. Judicial tyranny. Florida has been notorious for that, witness the abominable decision in Gore vs. Bush 2000, the all-Democrat court of the time flagrantly and willfully overstepping its bounds and authority of the Secretary of State as well as the state legislature. These unaccountable individuals pose the greatest threats to our republic, bar none.

Yes, to draw such a didtrict is cheating. And yes, California and arizona can be dead wrong too.

o you know why those states got those boards? Because they were doing this kind of crap, and people got tired of it.

If Brown’s district “goes” it puts a bunch of Black democrats in Webster’s district and costs him his seat. If you guys want that I say “whatever” to you. 1 Republican and 1 Black Democrat is infinitely better than 2 White Democrats. I have nothing to say to people who think the Republicans are as much the enemy as the democrats, Giles.

Democrats must be packed in their own districts to keep them in the minority where they belong. To hell with an arbitrary standard of “fairness” (nothing is fair), forget what you ‘think’ the law is (you think wrongly as does this punk lib Judge who thinks he’s so smart and high minded as he sips wine and eats European cheese spread on dainty little crackers).

This is war, victory is everything. The enemy draws the districts as they like in states they control, GOP MUST do the same. GOP won big in Illinois in 2010, rats redrew the lines and took back all their seats. Rats is Maryland drew out one of only 2 Republican seats. Rats in the south before the GOP take over screwed over both Republicans and Black democrats, spreading out the Blacks to keep White democrats in power.

“Independent” redistricting is a farce that’s cost us big time in GOP controlled Arizona and gave Cali the same kind of rat-biased map that the rat legislature would have drawn.

WAR. Brown’s district is a gorgeous work of art that’s great for America because it keeps all those Obama voters in one seat so they can’t pollute other ones.

It is not “cheating.” You keep using that word, it doesn’t mean what you think it means.

As for those boards, what people precisely were tired of the legislature doing their rightful duty ? Elites rolling the rubes into believing such a process can be done “independently.” It can’t. There will always be a partisan lean to it. Taking it away from a GOP legislature means getting screwed every time. Some Republicans were pushing the nonsense in California thinking they’d get a “fair shake.” Instead, what was a minority became a super-minority of seats for the GOP.

Nonsense. If that district were in violation, the Justice Department would never have cleared it in the first place. This is nothing but an attempt by a leftist activist judge to depose Dan Webster in an adjacent district. That judge should be slapped down and hard.

That district makes sure that Democrat voters are corralled into the one seat. Unpacking it means putting the adjacent GOP seats at risk. FL Democrats already have too many seats in Congress, thanks to that “fair districts” garbage.

Come to think of it the “independent redistricting” thing in Cali might have ended up giving the rats a BETTER map than if the legislature drew it. The legislature would have protected all rat incumbents first, even if that meant drawing 1 or 2 fewer seats for them in total. You never would have seen Berman and Sherman put in the same district.

True. Remember the claim that the combo of “independent redistricting” and the all-party primary would produce more “moderates” ? What a hoot ! Now CA sends a bunch of fresh ultraleft moonbats nobody has heard of.

Yep - you exemplify the reason I left the gop, and am hoping for its destruction, so a decent, true conservative party can rise in the place of its poisonous tree.

That district is a piece of crap designed by low-life party hacks. I don’t care what party drew it.

the reason those boards were put in place was because both sides were doing this kind of crap. I know, I was living in California at the time.

When the dems did it, the gop screamed bloody murder, when the gop did it, the dems did the same.

If the good or bad of the same behavior depends on the person or group doing the behaving, then your standards are screwed up. Obviously the gop and dems in California are screwed up. And it seems they are nationwide as well.

I don’t recall using the word “cheating” except to describe the folks who did this - and that word applies to the general type, not to their activity here.

Doing this is indefensible. And I KNOW the same slimes who drew this map will scream bloody murder if and when the dems do the same in return.

Oh fiddlesticks! Such hypocrisy! On the one hand you vilify the justice system when you fear it is going to do something you don’t like. But when something you like is obviously in violation of the clear intent of the law, you defend it, not on it’s merits - of which there are none - but by bleating, “but, but, but, the Justice Department said it was OK.”

If a judge can be as biased on way, as you claim, another person can be just as nefariously biased the other way. You support one and despise the other - I despise both.

When did the GOP “do it” in California in the modern era ? The last time there was a Republican majority to draw the lines there was 1952. The Democrats have been screwing the GOP since 1962 onwards, and the “independent board” even moreso. Letting the Democrats/Left get the upper hand has allowed the state to slide into a third-world hellhole. How’s that working out for you ?

Your naïvete on this entire subject takes the cake. Claiming hypocrisy on my part is the same as your claiming cheating, again, you use these words but they don’t mean what you think they do. This entire system is nuanced and far from straightforward as you want to make it.

It does raise the question of what your agenda is here. Mine is to defeat the left, both by using their rules (Justice Dept. pre-approval of the 5th), and by using our prerogatives to draw the lines via the legislature. You bet your ass I’m going to raise hell with respect to left-wing judicial activists trying to change the rules in the middle of the game because the current method puts their allies at a disadvantage.
