It’s pushing the sense of asylum past the breaking point. But when did this ever become something Democrats cared about?

I don’t claim to know much about asylum law, but I’ve read some are crossing the border, immediately surrendering to border patrol, and claiming asylum. The law itself apparently requires them to claim asylum by first entering the country. They can’t apply from a foreign country. They actually have to be here.
If this is true, then those that claim asylum are using the law in a way it wasn’t intended (because they aren’t here because they are suffering persecution in their home countries), but they aren’t technically illegal so long as they comply with the law’s provisions. It’s apparently up to them to subsequently prove they qualify to stay, but that’s done in an asylum hearing that may happen years later.
What I never understand is what the liberals end game is. Ok they will have a Democratic advantage forever for bringing in all of these illegals, but like you say, the US will become a third world turd bowl. Why would liberals want to live in a place like Somalia? Will Sean Penn and Jane Fonda be living in their ideal utopia then when their next door neighbors are panhandling for food? WIll they rub elbows with the scabies infested cockroaches now knows as “unaccompanied minors”?
