Rick Perry Slams Obama’s Blame Game, Demands National Guard For Border [VIDEO]
The Daily Caller ^ | July 13 2014 | Katie Frates

exas Gov. Rick Perry slammed President Barack Obama on Fox News Sunday, once again demanding the National Guard, and called on Obama to stop the blame game and get up and lead.

Host Brit Hume asked Perry to explain why he wants the National Guard sent to Texas, inquiring skeptically, “What exactly would National Guardsman and women do on the border?”

Perry explained that the National Guard acts as a front-line deterrent for illegal immigrants, and is critically important now, because most border patrol agents are stuck taking care of the illegal immigrant children. “The president was not even aware that his border patrol was back 40 or 45 miles from the border at these checkpoints,” he said. “They need to be right on the ripper, they need to be there as a show of force.”

“This flood of children is pulling away the border patrol from their normal duties of keeping bad people, keeping the drug cartels, they’re being distracted.”

Hume pushed back, questioning how effective the National Guard could be when they aren’t allowed to actually detain anyone. “They’re not, under the law, allowed to apprehend any of these children that are crossing, are they?” Hume asked.

“It’s the visual of it that’s the most important,” Perry countered. “Their conversations are being monitored with calls back to Central America, and the message is ‘hey come on up here, everything is great, they’re taking care of us,’ and that needs to stop.”

Hume then asked if Perry thought the presence of the National Guard would really deter children who have already “made the harrowing journey.”

“Are they really going to be deterred by the presence of troops along the border who won’t shoot them, and can’t arrest them?”

“What we’re talking about is sending the message back now to staunch the bleeding,” Perry replied. “Those that are already here, to address them, to humanitarily [sic] take care of them, to make sure they are safe — to reunite them with their families — that is the most humanitarian thing we can do.”

Perry again stressed the necessity of the National Guard to help get border patrol agents back to their actual jobs. “Right now, reports of up to 70 percent of them [border patrol] are taking care of these young people who have come in, rather than do their job of securing the border.”

Hume brought up President Obam, and his hope that Perry would “put the heat” on the Texas congressional delegation to pass “this nearly $4 billion dollar measure” that he is proposing.

And Perry had some choice words for the president.

“Very little of it [the bill] is for border security. And I think until he gets realistic about the problem and how you deal with the problem, and it is a border security issue, and we’ve got a track record now of five plus years of him disregarding what is going on on the border, so here’s his opportunity to truly lead,” Perry declared.

“Don’t blame this on anyone. Be a leader, lay out a plan.”

Hume then asked Perry to clarify if he was saying he would disregard the president and not pressure the Texas delegation to pass the bill.

“So in other words, governor, you don’t particularly support the bill, and you’re not going to be encouraging your delegation to pass it. Is that a fair assessment?”

“I think you have distilled the correct answer,” Perry replied.

Really?
“Simple:

1. If that federal authority acts against the lawful stopping of the invasion — kill them.
2. If the federal authorities try to do nothing, seeing it as a no-win situation, gin up agitation in other states.
3. If the federal authorities help, then good.
(But don’t be too trusting — they could be trying to maneuver to get a good shot at planting a knife in your back.) “

Shoot them?
I live in Texas and I hate what that evil slimy POS is doing but Good Lord this isn’t a game.
What do you think would happen if a member of the Texas guard shot a federal agent?

seriously what do you think would happen?

I was ordered to secure the border against invasion using reasonable force, persons claiming to be federal agents tried to prevent me; as Section 4 of Article 4 of the US Constitution requires the federal government to protect against invasions we knew that these were not actually federal agents — or, if they were, then by their actions in attempting to prevent us from securing the border they revealed themselves to be guilty of Treason by aiding and abetting the invaders.

seriously what do you think would happen?

It'd set off a chain to a political bomb in DC — one that could easily destroy the open-borders crowd.

I don’t think Governor Mumbles has done anything but yap. And, being the dim bulb that he is he is slow to realize that has gotten him nowhere. It does appease the Perry faithful, though.

Good idea. O does this sort of thing against the people and their representatives, so the states ought to do it against him.

Then call out the National Guard and force Obama’s hand.

To be fair to Perry, he *has* already called out and deployed the purely state force, the Texas State Guard. It’s the National Guard that has Federal entanglements.

See my last post - he has deployed the Texas State Guard which is separate from the Fed-entangled National Guard.

Aren’t they down there helping with the processing, not
actually on the border patroling?

I posted that one - I think that’s where he’s heading. If he’s doing what I suspect, he’s setting it up so that he can say he had no choice but to do so. I posted this to the Texas board (saving myself some retyping):

***

That’s not a bad idea (though like you I wish he’d move faster if this is what he’s doing) - imagine the interviews with the press who will be screaming bloody murder about it. “Well, I *tried* everything else, what would you have me do? I have to defend my citizens and nobody offered me any other options even after I pleaded with everyone from the Federal bureaucracy up to the President himself! It got me nowhere. So what option do I have, Mr. Journalist?”

Not saying that this is for certain what he is doing - but it’s one possible scenario.

***

He may be doing this, he may not. I don’t know. I do know that if he doesn’t do something to ensure that Obama doesn’t Federalize the Texas National Guard, Obama will Federalize the force and instead of securing the border, he will send them to try and bolster his lost war in Afghanistan or Iraq.

Better than nothing. Texas State Guard is not really a combat force - they’re under military discipline but the specialty is construction, medical and logistics. They can fight but they’re ill equipped to do so, especially considering that they’d face people like Zetas on the other side of the border. It’s better that they handle what they can, which frees up officers and troops whose specialty is combat and apprehension.

Perry has asked back in 2009 for this NG action.

HOUSTON – In the absence of adequate federal resources to secure the state’s southern border,
Gov. Rick Perry today announced the state’s latest border security enhancement using highly-skilled
Ranger Reconnaissance (Ranger Recon) Teams to address the ever evolving threat along the
Texas-Mexico border. He also repeated his call for Washington to approve the 1,000
Title 32 National Guard troops he has been requesting since January. Additionally, the governor
announced the award of $2 million in state criminal justice funds to the Border Sheriff’s
Coalition for continued utilization of video surveillance technology along the border

To be even more specific - you don’t send out doctors, combat engineers and supply specialists to patrol and apprehend people if you have any choice; you use them in their specialties and to push papers around so the people whose jobs it is to patrol and apprehend can go do their jobs instead of having to worry about logistics and paperwork.

Still better than nothing, and it’s about all he can do without Federal issues.

I would wish that it included some sizeable MP units, which would be good for border patrol and other duties. Unfortunately, it doesn’t.

Thanks, I was aware of that. But calling up the state guard to help in processing won’t secure the border and stop the ILLEGAL invasion.

Perry could call up the TNG and send them to the border.

At that point Obama could federalize the guard and do whatever he wants with it

If Obama calls up the guard, the feds pay. If Perry called it up, we Texans have to pay.

Texas has spent $500 MILLION in the past decade protecting the border...a federal responsibility!
