The Republican establishment beat back most challenges from its movement right in this year's primaries, including a play to fill the House majority leader slot.
Some business interests and entrenched congressional politicians argue the party's right wing is in retreat. Not so.
Many of the more establishment Republicans who prevailed in primaries had moved decidedly to the right. The Republican agenda on Capitol Hill largely is framed by the most conservative of the conservatives. Urgent: Who Is Your Choice for the GOP's 2016 Nominee?
"The movement right is as strong as ever," says Michael Needham, chief executive officer of Heritage Action, a leading conservative advocacy group. "We're out front on ideas and technology."
The movement right isn't easily defined. It includes anti-immigrant activists, social-issue fundamentalists and the economic right, where conservative intellectuals are trying to fashion new ideas. It is less enamored with big business than more traditional Republicans.
Jeb Bush, John Boehner, the Chamber of Commerce and Karl Rove, a former top adviser to George W. Bush, are in the establishment camp. Senators Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio, along with the Tea Party, belong to the diffuse movement right.
The right wing suffered a series of visible primary election defeats. Most prominently, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell easily beat back a challenger in Kentucky, and Mississippi Senator Thad Cochran survived a brutal battle. (The surprising defeat of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor was attributable to his falling out of touch with his Virginia constituents.)

Marco seems to be another "Conservative" until he get's elected, then its off to pal around with the Establishment.
We conservatives MUST keep the pressure on the GOP establishment!
The USA desperately needs an electoral conFRontation between true conservatives and the LIEberals of both parties who have been destroying our distinctly American society and culture.
We can undo some of the damage in 2014 by holding the House and taking the Senate. If we play our cards right and take over the White House in 2016, we can begin the massive rebuilding job that years and years of LIEberal policies will have necessitated.
We have our work out out for us!

Paul has come under the influence of the Republican Establishment, just as Rubio has. They have whispered in his ear, “you can’t talk like that any more. If you want to be president, you have to be for this and this and this, and support this person and this person” etc.
Remember what Trent Lott said, “we must co-opt them.”
They’re plan is that if they can’t get Christie or Bush the nomination, or Romney again, they will nominate a co-opted Paul, somebody they can control.
Frankly I’m glad to see Perry rising. He screwed up last time with his “heartless” comments and his lack of preparation in the debates, but the winds are blowing in a different direction now on illegal immigration. And politicians love to follow the political winds.
The GOP Establishment had better get used to it because the Tea Party is here to stay and ain’t going anywhere. So to the GOP-E, I say either start mounting proactive opposition to the pro-communist Democrat party and fight to advance Constitutional conservative principles, or face extinction. The choice is yours.
Does either party have responsible spending or taxation policies? A plan for a balanced budget? A plan for reducing the debt or preserving the value of the currency?
They don’t. Ergo the TEA party will continue.

Actually, Marco Rubio seems to be pretty consistently conservative on all other major political issues... It’s just extremely unfortunate that, for whatever ill-advised reason, he chose to make a pathway-to-amnesty for illegal aliens his signature issue. I will never comprehend how an otherwise bright guy could make such a foolhardy miscalculation and pretty much destroy his once-promising presidential aspirations in the process.
If they were honest, they would say anti illegal alien.

Yep. There is absolutely nothing "conservative" about seeking to pardon and reward lawbreakers who've illegally immigrated into this country by granting them citizenship.
Makes you wonder why Rand Paul “met privately” with Jeff Zuckerberg, doesn’t it? Zuckerberg has promised to keep pouring millions into his pro illegal ad campaign until Comprehensive Immigration Reform passes. Apart from the fact that Zuck. could make a handsome campaign donation to Paul if he were so inclined, what would they have to talk about...?

The GOPe will never get rid of the Tea Party because we are not a “party” but a state of mind.
I’m hoping and praying that the Tea Party will shout “CAN YOU HEAR US NOW?” very loudly on November 4, 2014, and forcibly retire some of the House and Senate rascals who have spent their careers deceiving us!
And, then, we’ll have another go at them in 2016!
He was not prepared in 2008 for the national stage.
I think he now has a much better understanding of the national MSM. ...they are not his friend.
