Nationalist MKs Outraged Over Impending Ceasefire

Nationalist Knesset Members expressed outrage on Monday night over Egypt’s proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza, which the Cabinet is to vote on early Tuesday morning.

Diplomatic officials said that the Egyptian proposal would return the situation on the ground to the state it was before Operation Protective Edge, but with a Hamas that is much weaker than before.

Officials close to Jewish Home Chairman Naftali Bennett said he would vote against the ceasefire.

Housing Minister Uri Ariel (Jewish Home) told Channel 2 News that the ceasefire proposal is “very bad. I hope the reports are not correct and if they are, this is a disaster.”

Minister Ariel stressed that the ceasefire would endanger Israeli citizens. "It won’t be long before Hamas will grow stronger, smuggle more elaborate rockets and open fire again,” he warned.

Asked how he believes Israel should act now, he responded that the operation must continue, “including ground entry. We need to finish the job. Doing half a job is worse than doing nothing.”

Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon (Likud) said that a ceasefire at this point would be a "slap in the face" to the residents of the south, who were willing to pay a heavy price in return for Israel dealing a significant blow to Hamas.

“No cosmetics will be able to beautify this serious mistake,” he said.

I should add something here ... since the Palestinian government broke apart into two factions ... one in the West Bank (Judea and Samaria) and one in Gaza ... when Fatah and Hamas had their war in Gaza (and Hamas took over) — that Palestinian Legislative Council has not even ONE TIME ever functioned again. It’s DEFUNCT today, as a result of the split with one another - the Palestinian Authority, versus, Hamas.

I guess it depends on what one means by toe-hold. They don’t run the Palestinian Authority and control the West Bank. There’s a difference there as compared to Gaza ... :-) ...

In Ghaza, I don’t think Fatah can run anything anymore, after Hamas killed so many loyalists. But whatever it is, I’m against it.

It’s a sham and meant to deceive people on the world scene. It has no effect in who controls what areas - Gaza and the West Bank ... see post #18 ...

one of which is that one can’t force another country to take people in, when they don’t want to.

Well, most of them are either ethnic Egyptians (like Arafat) or Jordanians.

Is there an issue with that statement? (I assume there will be)

any country who forces any mass migration of a population out of an area in their military control is committing a war crime.

Well, I guess they're just going to have to continue with their "collateral damage" option then. The "Palestinians" overwhelmingly elected Hamas for their "Kill The Jews" position.

Israel has already entered into peace treaties with Jordan and Israel in which they have committed to recognizing these Palestinians in these territories - PLUS - the legal documents and treaties they’ve signed and agreed to through all their governments and Prime Ministers for the last twenty years committing Israel to coming to a final agreement forming a Palestinian State.

Oh come on...how many freakin "Palestinian States" do they need? They already have Jordan, Syria and Israel...they're all "Palestinian States". You’re a bit “out of date” with the legal documents and treaties that Israel has “committed itself to”

I'd say they made some serious errors, which only prolonged the terrorist attacks. I don't see how the actions of the murderous moslems haven't rendered those treaties null and void....You could say "Out of date".

Israel basically doesn’t want the Palestinians inside Israel proper (changing the demographic there to predominantly ARAB and Muslim) ... and THAT is basically the ONE REASON and the one alone - why Israel is going to make sure there is a Palestinian State.

It’s a very odd quirk of fate that ISRAEL wants a Palestinian State more than the PALESTINIANS do ... :-) ...

And why doesn't it? Who else could possibly be blamed?

Every reasonable person in the world who’s been paying attention to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict understands that, at the very least, Hamas would not be a trustworthy negotiating partner. What kind of ‘’cease fire’’ can anyone expect when dealing with bloodthirsty maniacs whose principal mission in life is to destroy you?

So, at this point, for the Israeli Prime Minister to even think of sitting down at a negotiating table with a murderous Hamas terrorist would be a sell-out of Israel.

It’s been a very stressful week for Bibi Netanyahu, and maybe he’s so battle-fatigued and overwhelmed he just wants to sit down, period, anywhere.

But a negotiating table across from a Hamas maniac is not the place to do it. Netanyahu needs to take a rest at a hospital, and this should be strongly encouraged by his colleagues, so that someone else who’s operating on all cylinders at this crucial time can take over and save the day.

Egypt launches initiative to halt Israel-Palestinian conflict
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3180268/posts

Egypt launched an initiative on Monday to halt fighting between Israel and Palestinian militants, proposing a ceasefire to be followed by talks in Cairo on settling the conflict in which Gaza authorities say more than 170 people have died.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will convene his decision-making security cabinet on Tuesday to discuss the proposal on the Gaza violence, an Israeli official said.

[An] Israeli official seemed to put a positive face on the proposed truce, saying that Israel’s week-old offensive in Gaza had weakened the Islamist Hamas group militarily.

Two members of Netanyahu’s security cabinet suggested a truce might be in the works. “There are contacts all the time,” Communications Minister Gilad Erdan said when asked about the possibility of Kerry visiting Cairo.

It doesn’t matter to Israel, as long as they’re not in Israel proper. Call them anything you want or of any origin you want ... as long as they’re not in Israel proper to change the demographic of Israel into an ARAB State.

Exactly the way most Americans and our military felt about Desert Storm. “Stormin’ Norman” wanted to press on and take out Saddam and all of his military and WMDs.

His commander, COLON Powell, disagreed and convinced Bush 41, the wimp, to pull out; thus permitting Saddam to rebuild. ...Then, after Saddam was taken down under Bush 43 and Iraq was much more stable, Obama pulled out the US military and permitted today’s situation in the whole region to come into being.

Israel accepts Egyptian cease-fire proposal
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3180362/posts

Israel’s security cabinet met Tuesday morning to discuss the Egyptian cease-fire proposal, as Operation Protective Edge enters its second week. According to the Egyptian proposal, a cease-fire would begin Tuesday at 9 A.M. local time.

A senior Israeli official said that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accepts the offer and will bring it to a vote. Economy Minister Naftali Bennett will reportedly vote against a cease-fire.

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri already rejected the proposal late Monday night on the grounds that “we are still under occupation and resistance is the right of our people.”
