More than a third of all Americans and two-thirds of Republicans believe Congress would be justified in bringing impeachment proceedings against President Obama, according to a poll from YouGov and the Huffington Post released Monday.

Thirty-five percent of all respondents, including 68 percent of Republicans, say there's reason for Congress to try to remove Obama from office. By contrast, just 8 percent of Democrats say impeachment proceedings are justified.

If 35% of the total population wants to see this POS impeached, his poll ratings are nowhere NEAR 40% or whatever they have him at today.

That’s 65% of the population which either has down syndrome or deserves to meet the same fate as the Rosenbergs, including 33.3% of Republicans. I still fear for America and Christianity.

JUST 8% of rats think he should be impeached? Seems to me anything more than zero is somewhat significant.

Sorry, 32% of Republicans, I read it as “2/3rds” for some reason.

Consider the source of the poll and look at the breakdown of the respondents - quite telling.

If this many people want him impeached, if proceedings were started the number would go up.

As for democrats, I despise them all.

Huffington Post is liberal aren’t they. They aren’t going to publish negative news unless they are certain. And then it’s likely to be understated.

Only 1/6 of the US Population voted this y0-y0 into office, and many of them regret it.

I suspect you could have gotten 35% of the population willing to impeach GWB in 2006, and that went nowhere, even with the MSM beating the anti-Bush drum daily.

Thank you for referencing that article Red in Blue PA. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

Even if 100 percent of voters say that impeachment out of office is justified, unless patriots and former Obama supporters get organized to make sure that there are enough senators after the 2014 elections who are willing to remove Obama from office if the House impeaches him, Obama is just going to laugh if the House impeaches him.

Actually, the math used by the author of the article is faulty when you check the raw numbers.

68% of Republicans favor impeachment

Republicans make up about 32 % of the population so that gives 22% of the population who are Republican and favor impeaching the President.

The article also states that 27% of the population who are not Republicans but are instead Independents and Democrats favor the impeachment of the President of the United States..

That gives 22% of American population who identify Republicans + 27% of the American population who identify Independent and Democrat are in favor of Impeaching Obama for a total of 49% of the American population in favor of impeaching President Obama.

Furthermore, 21% of Americans are sitting on the fence undecided o whether Obama should or should not be impeached .

Only 30% of all Americans, less than one third of the population, is opposed to impeaching President Obama

Those are pretty staggering and dangerous negative numbers for a sitting American President.

Removal from office requires 67 Senators to vote “guilty”.

No one knows what percentage of the population is necessary to get there, but it is probably >70%.

What the Democrats achieved in 1973-74 was a coordinated attack on Nixon that sold impeachment to the same public that gave Nixon 61% of the popular vote in 1972.

Who among contemporary GOP leaders in Congress could pull that off?

100% media Watergate blitzkrieg, artillery barrage, carpet bombing, day after day, week after week, month after month - repeating the same phrases over and over and over: “stonewall” - “modified limited hangout” - “18 minute gap” - “What did the President know and when did he know it?” - all that stuff... it finally worked.

You could have every GOP leader shouting for impeachment - and get nothing. No coverage. And from Joe Public? Apathy.

That's not what happened when we had to impeach Clinton. The exact opposite occurred. As the process went on more people opposed it and his job approval ratings went up. Just leading into the process probably cost us 5 seats in the House in the 98's elections.

There is also a big difference between impeachment being justified and actually doing it. I think it's justified, but I think it would be a politically disastrous thing to do. It's not going to happen anyway, but if it were you'd have to start with much better numbers than this.
