Kentucky Senate Race will be one of most watched races in 2014
ABC News ^ | SHUSHANNAH WALSHE

Posted on 07/14/2014 6:40:49 PM PDT by Din Maker

Sen. Mitch McConnell (Incumbent) Republican Age: 72

Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes Democrat Age: 35

No doubt about it: The Kentucky Senate race will be the most watched 2014 contest of them all, and the stakes could not be higher. It is a rare occurrence that a congressional leader in the House or Senate is ousted, but with McConnell’s favorability ratings in the state low, Democrats see the opportunity of a lifetime in the Bluegrass State. Democrats see the numbers and are buoyed. McConnell won’t go down without a fight like we’ve never seen before, and this will be the brawl of 2014.

Polling shows a single digit race between Grimes and McConnell., statistically locked between the two. Grimes even wrote a letter to Bevin voters and independent voters a few days after the primary promising to be a “fresh, independent voice in Washington that puts Kentucky and its people first – not Washington insiders.”

Well, for starters, if McConnell had been the Majority Leader of the Senate vs. Harry Reid, Obamacare would have never seen the light of day, among other things. You don’t think that’s a difference.

Ridiculous.

McConnell will ask Reid’s permission for everything action he takes. Putting him in the majority leader’s office does not get rid of Reid.

Of the two candidates, one mentioned a desire to punch tea parties in the face.

So does that candidate deserve conservatives’ support?

“If he loses, the Conservatives will get more Harry Reid.”

1. If McConnell loses, it’s largely because he alienated conservatives at the cost of their support.

2. The GOP isn’t going to win enough seats to push out Harry Reid anyway. The best they’ll net is +3 or possibly +4.

Best outcome: McConnell squeaks through but fails to be elected Majority Leader in 2015. Then, hopefully, he resigns in disgust, and a true conservative replaces him.

Agreed, Mitch is on his own. I won’t vote for Grimes she is a total idiot, but McConnell lost when he went off on the base and the thing is he didn’t have too to win the primary, the dumb a$$.

You punch a person or group in the face, insult them, mock them and then expect them to buy your lunch and vote for your stupid hind end six months later? Arrogant dumb a$$...

Even if he wins we still get more of the same. You really believe the gutless GOPE will do anything with control of the senate anymore than they have with the House?

ABC is just carrying water for Grimes. Calling thecrace a tossup will bring in a lot more donations than calling it a lean-GOP will.

I’m getting amused by all the Grimes ads blasting McConnell for his obstructionism. Assuming that he really is being obstructionist, it’s that obstructionism that’s saving two things Grime professes to love: the coal industry and gun rights.

Any conservative that votes for a democrat is no conservative in the first place.

Now days when you vote for a Republican you’re voting for a closet Democrat much of the time.

I’ve lived under Rick Perry’s politics in Texas for decades. He’s an empty suit. He’s garnering Mitch’s favor for his Presidential run.

My daddy used to say: “You can only kick an old dog so long before he rises up and bites you.” There will be a chunk taken out of Mitch McConnell’s a** on Nov. 4.

OTOH...

If Mitch-the-Bitch loses, that may reduce the GOP-E impact on 2016 Prez nominee.

Thanks Din. That is the opinion of many including myself. Perry's just not presidential material.

He’s garnering Mitch’s favor for his Presidential run.

I could believe that save for one factor. Perry has a history of making bone headed decisions. He endorsed David Dewhurst over the best conservative in the senate, Ted Cruz. If Perry had his way Cruz would never have made it to Washington. Then there is my tag line; whose favor was he garnering then?

Like I said, Perry has a history of making bone headed decisions. That alone should preclude him from ever being POTUS.
