– Sen. Mark Udall (D-Colo.) expressed opposition Friday to a proposed plan to allow women to buy birth control without a prescription, saying the proposal would put “more barriers between women and contraceptives.”

"I believe it would put more barriers to women's health and contraception," Udall said at a July 11 press conference, according to the Associated Press. The plan proposed by the man challenging Udall for his Senate seat – Rep. Cory Gardener (R-Colo.) - would give women over-the-counter access to birth control, but customers would have to pay the cost charged by drug stores and other retailers for contraceptives.

At the press conference, Udall – who has co-authored a bill to reverse the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision on the Hobby Lobby lawsuit that said some closely-held corporations cannot be forced to provide contraceptive methods they are morally opposed to, including abortion-inducing drugs – was asked about Gardner’s plan

Most countries allow women over-the-counter access to birth control pill -- without a prescription

Unlike women in the U.S., Canada and much of Europe, most women in the world can access the birth control pill without a prescription, according to a new study

Udall cited the Affordable Care Act (ACA) as a better option for women, because under the law, birth control products approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are free.

So using Obamacare to get birth control is not a "barrier".

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.....

Sounds like Udall is conducting a war-on-women by preventing access to birth control drugs at the drug store counter.

OTOH, the way ‘Rats work, they could spew any snip of illogic and absurdity, and with the aid of media spin it as truth, logical and correct such that their base buys it hook line and sinker.

Yes, the money for them comes from the birth control fairy.

This is perfect. Why can’t they get it? Is there something you aren’t telling them? Why should they have out of pocket cost to go to the doctor to get those “free” pills?

Nobody should stand between a woman and her birth control, even a doctor.

Udall says what his soccer-mom constituents think even before they “think”, which sometimes they don’t.

Is it far past time that idiotic statements such as these get called out. How in the HELL is making birth control easier to buy over the counter, RESTRICTING ACCESS TO BIRTH CONTROL!!???!?!! This absolutely asinine statement makes me want to hit this nimrod with a tack hammer! Someone needs to take this dipshit to task and have him explain how making something easier to buy is restricting it!!

To quote the great Mugatu...'I FEEL LIKE I'VE BEEN TAKIN CRAZY PILLS!!!'

“... customers would have to pay the costs charged ... for contraceptives.”

Is that a foreign concept to Mr. Udull? People paying for what they get? Is there something objectionable in that notion?

Ah, another English-speaker, I see. Democrats speak Newspeak, not English, and in Newspeak, the phrase "access to birth control" can denote either what it denotes in English, or be equivalent to the English phrase "provision of birth control paid for by third parties" (usually meaning the employer or the taxpayer) or to the English phrase "government mandated access to birth control", and like all Newspeak words and phrases, the meaning is fluid according to what suits the needs of the Party at any moment, and can shift from what it meant when the speaker uttered to phrase to another meaning if it is later politically expedient for it to have a different meaning.

From article , more of the same from planned parenthood 's response

... Planned Parenthood official in Colorado also cited the cost of over-the-counter, non-prescription birth control.

"It masquerades as a solution, but it is not one," Vicki Cowart, president of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, told the AP

There is absolutely no reason that birth control pills couldn’t just be sold OTC. They sell more harmful things than them OTC.
