Seattle man sets house on fire while trying to kill spider: officials

The man used a can of spray paint and a lighter as 'a self-made blowtorch to kill a spider in the laundry room' of a rental house Tuesday night, said Kyle Moore, a spokesman for the Seattle Fire Department. The resulting blaze caused $60,000 worth of damage.

This again. It seems like every year, at least once a year, someone burns their house down trying to kill a spider or snake, and someone gets stuck in a chimney and dies. We haven’t had that chimney death yet. I’m betting some time in August.
