Insurgents attack Kabul airport in predawn raid

The airport in the Afghan capital of Kabul came under insurgent attack before dawn, the interior ministry said Thursday.

Rapid response teams were deployed to the area of the airport where a firefight was underway, Deputy Interior Minister Gen. Mohammad Ayoub Salangi said. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

While the terrorists could simply sit back and wait for the coalition troops to leave before they take over, it looks like they want to kill as many westerners as they can while the opportunity exists.
