Terrible news. At present, the Ukrainian separatists, and the Ukrainian govt, blame each other for this atrocity.

An act of terrorism, and an act of war against every country that had people on that plane.

Yes - the act of war aspect means this might be the start of a whole new story.

Conveniently, it knocks the border situation off the front page.

Commies have to protect each other, I guess.

Given the new explosive context, it will be interesting to see how many Benghazi MANPADS questions confront GayMuzzie.

It’s horrible, but not necessarily an act of war.

KAL 007 and Iran Air 655 were not acts of war.

In response to a statement made on the news about Obama being briefed on events, Major Garrett, much to his credit, responded that yes Obama may be being briefed but it was by telephone since Obama is at a fundraiser in another city where he is discussing funding of infrastructure projects.

Not sure how many people will pick up on the qualifier and the news broadcaster did not expand on Major’s statement.

The top “rebel” leader in the Ukraine, Igor Vsevolodovich Girkin, aka Igor Strelkov, was identified in a major news article as a Soviet GRU (Military Intelligence) Colonel.

The article, “Ukrainian Rebel Commander Identified as Russian GRU Military Intelligence Colonel”, was written by Bill Gertz, nationally noted military/foreign affairs writer for the Washington Times and in this case, having an article published at the “freebeacon.com”, June 20 2014.

Gertz wrote:

“Officials (i.e. US) said Girkin is a GRU colonel who was first identified by the Ukrainian SBU intelligence service. Girkin traveled to the Crimea in February and traveled to Donetsk in April. While in the Crimea (he) was a military adviser to Sergei Aksenov, the current head of the Russian-occupied Crimea.”

“He is also a close aid to the so-called Donetsk prime minister, Alexander Borodai, who is also a Russian...”

This article appeared here at FreeRepublic.com on June 20th, perhaps the first and maybe only place to publish it outside of the FreeBeacon.com site and affiliates.

Meanwhile, John Batchelor, of the “John Batchelor Show” on radio (WMAL-DC), keeps bringing on an old friend, Prof. Stephen F. Cohen, a notorious Soviet apologist from the old Cold War days, who, today, writes a pro-Russia column for his wife’s marxist publication, “The Nation”.

He was a longtime professor at Princeton, and known as the top pro-Soviet propagandist in both academia and the media. He is now at NYU in NY City where he is continuing his work for the Soviets/Russians.

In my opinion, despite the sheer blindness of Batchelor, Cohen is a “Soviet asset” and someday may be exposed as a “Soviet operative” (there is a legal and technical distinction between them).

When you look/read Cohen’s writings for the past 35 years, you will see that he has been CONSISTENTLY pro-communist/Soviet/Russia.

Just highlight the words he uses to describe the Ukrainian government today and says they it is literally ruled by the “far-right”, “fascistic”, “right wing extremists” Svododa Party and Right Front (a small but very vocal and often dangerous mixture of Urkainian fascists and possibly Soviet provocateurs.

Russian fascists and some Ukrainian fascists have been hired/used by Putin to infiltrate the seize-Crimea movement and to commit atrocities against various groups of people, which is then, via Cohen, blamed on Ukrainian soldiers, fascists, Nazis, etc.

Cohen, using the Soviet and Alinsky tactics of old, always manages to blame the anti-communists for atrocities, illegalities, etc., all the while demonizing them (thanks Saul) as “fascists, Nazis, extremist rights and for good luck, NATO expansionists, US warhawks, and “followers of the Germany supporting WW2 fascist government of the infamous Stetkos, a vile, murderous wife and weak husband team who escaped being executed as war criminals by luck.

In the “Wonderful World of Subversion”, you are lost without a list of the players.

That is, indeed, an intriguing list of individuals and their interests. All the old divisions of the Cold War have come back to life, and I don’t think that any of those intelligence agencies ever really disappeared.

Malaysia Air should hit Putin for reparations sufficient to cover all their costs from BOTH of their plane crashes this year. Putin can afford it.

~Malaysia Air should hit Putin for reparations sufficient to cover all their costs from BOTH of their plane crashes this year. Putin can afford it.~

Bull. has brought USSR to court for a 1983 KAL007 shotdown and Korean Air was fond responsible.

I don’t know who is guilty as far as both Ukraine and rebels has SAMs in the area but airline is certainly responsible.

Dozens of choppers and fighter jets were shot there in a last couple of months, at least three transport planes, including one allegedly travelling at high altitude.

Why would you fly a passenger jet in a place like that?

Ah- But only one side admitted to it before they knew what they had hit.

I have to put some of the blame on the pilot of flight MH-17. Perhaps fuel consumption played into it, but this was ‘no fly zone’ country!

I read somewhere that dozens of airliners are flying over Ukraine day and night.

I've seen reports clearly indicating that a number of major airlines were taking the exact same route as this ill fated flight. If that's true...even somewhat true...that would exonerate the crew and the airline.Everything I've seen and heard that can be believed indicates that 100% of the blame belongs to Vlad Putin and the Soviet agents he secretly introduced into eastern Ukraine.

I've read that it's hundreds...including major airlines.

Don’t blame the “victim”> That is the game that the Russians and Obama play on a regular basis.
