Interesting. What percentage of pot smokers require housing at 45 and die by 65 from smoking? Please cite the studies that indicate this outcome.
What percentage of pot smokers smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol? What percentage also take other dangerous drugs?
If a person smokes cigs and pot and gets lung cancer, how do we know whether the cancer caused by cigs, pot, radon, or something else?
Indeed. The welfare and loss of tax revenue from lazy bums that otherwise would’ve been contributors is where the real impact will be. It won’t be so in your face though, it’ll just be a general worsening standard of living for us all.
But to a liberaltarian that’s a price worth paying of course.
“Pot heads” actually inhale very little carcinogenic material compared to chain tobacco smokers. Even disregarding the chemical composition, they just don’t inhale nearly as many times, many 1/100 or something. And with vapes — almost nothing.
What? Are you opposed to the existing heavy surcharges for tobacco smokers? Would you oppose a similar surcharge for smokers of other materials? Do you think that insurance companies can’t do the actuarial math? The headline asks “Why Do I have to Buy Healthcare for Potheads” — a surcharge is one way of charging the “potheads” the incremental health-care costs of their habit (whatever they may be). Do you find “user-pay” funny? Are you drunk?
Jeez so serious. Noone can take a joke anymore.
You’re going to pay a lot more for people injured by properly prescribed FDA-approved pharmaceuticals. Look up the statistics on the deaths and injuries caused by them.
This is an interesting comment too.
The same logic was used to outlaw alcohol just over a century ago.
I think cigs, alcohol and pot should all be illegal for the reason you cite.
Society would be much better if no one used these things.
Seriously, I’d vote today to make all three illegal. But it has to be all three or people will simply gravitate to whichever is legal.
Hey, my grandma smoked camel unfiltered until she was 89! Died at 94 from natural cause!
It’s true!
Potheads take this stuff deadly serious. It’s their life. They are more intent on this than anyone is on nearly any subject.
So you’d legalize heroin, meth, and cocaine too I’m sure. And have them at every 7-11. Since ‘all drugs are the same’ apparently to liberaltarians. Well, some are hypocrites and only want their favorite legalized.
I guess my question is why did she quit at 89?
“Theres conflicting evidence about the links between smoking marijuana and cancer. “
Let’s ask Bob Marley about that. Oh wait, we can’t. He died of lung cancer from smoking pot!!
Nobody deeply inhales to tobacco, but they all deep hit pot. Yea, that’s healthy!!!
Hear, hear! The societal costs of tobacco and alcohol consumption will continue to far outweigh the cost of marijuana consumption. It is improper to frame this as an issue concerning the free enjoyment of (relatively) harmless plants.
In other words: The abomination known as ObamaCare should not be cited as a further argument to throw people in prison for exercising their God-given rights to "enjoy ever herb that groweth..."
Regards,
I’ll see your Bob Marley and raise you one Willie Nelson.
I believe I mentioned “actuarial evidence”. Look it up.
If I am forced to pay the healthcare bills for anyone other than myself and my family then I am a slave. I don’t care if they are pot heads or health nuts.
Didn’t Marley die of skin cancers that started on his foot?
Who pays the piper calls the tune.
When the government has total control of your medical treatment you can be denied treatment based on unhealthy choices.
Do you like red meat and bacon? Sorry, we're withholding treatment.
Well MrB, it seems you've voted Republican. It looks like your surgery must be canceled.
So youd legalize heroin, meth, and cocaine too Im sure. And have them at every 7-11. Since all drugs are the same apparently to liberaltarians. Well, some are hypocrites and only want their favorite legalized.
What’s with the “All or Nothing” argument?
Marijuana causes melanoma? You better alert the medical community with this new finding.
