He had one of the best tv cars ever. That Firebird was like him, cool and understated, but very powerful.

“Lois Garner just told me, “I’ll never be the same. My Jim is gone.” Her tears speak for all of us.”

If I remember right, they married in 1956 with nary a scandal since. Not exactly your typical Hollywood marriage.

Yeah, Lance White was one of the better characters. No matter what he did he always came out smelling like roses, while Rockford was just the opposite.

Whoever scripted the episodes between Selleck and Garner was a genius. The roles fit each perfectly.

I read they had their ups and downs but worked through it and stayed together.

I remember seeing him in some old Doris Day movies.....such a young guy back in those days. It’s hard to believe he was 86.

Enjoyed his role in “The Rockford Files.”

Yes, one of many funny scenes. Still love the Henry Morgan quip: “Well, we ordered the bars, but they ain’t arrove yet.”

Look for an interesting movie called Cash McCall... It is amazing how many movies have been made that sort of borrow from it..yet I had never heard of it a year ago...

RIP to Maverick, Rockford and Doris Day’s best on-screen husband(the one she had the most chemistry with).

Didn’t care for his politics but relative to the Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon-types he was relatively low-key about it and focused more on entertaining his fans instead. I wish more actors would do the same.

I’m a big fan of it’s “non-sequel”:
