MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Gov. Mark Dayton challenged energy policy and business leaders Thursday to find a way for Minnesota to eliminate coal from the state's energy production.

Dayton, who has spoken of his aim to eliminate coal before, said it's time to start talking details so that Minnesota can lead the nation.

“So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. It’s just that it will bankrupt them because they are going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.” — Candidate Barack Obama, San Francisco Chronicle interview, January 17, 2008

“Under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.” — Candidate Barack Obama, Same interview as above

“We’re going to have to cap the emission of greenhouse gasses. That means that power plants are going to have to adjust how they generate power … but a lot of us who can afford it are going to have to pay more per unit of electricity, and that means we’re going to have to change our light bulbs, we’re going to have to shut the lights off in our houses.” — Candidate Barack Obama, Iowa PBS interview, November 9, 2007

So much for President Obama’s claims to be for an ‘all-of-the-above’ approach...

Hmmm. Let’s see how Minnesotans would like it if this were to occur with the caveat that Minnesota would not derive any benefits from products or services produced from coal or it’s by-products. I’m sure most Minnesotans aren’t in favor of the asshat gov daytons idea. At least the ones outside the major metro areas.

Go for it Mark. I don’t live in Minnesota so if you build a bunch of over-priced solar and wind and other BS “clean” energy plants and force MN to use them, it means coal will be cheaper for me. You live with the consequences of what you vote for.

here is what it’s all about: “Degrowth is an essential economic strategy to pursue in overdeveloped countries like the United States–for the well-being of the planet, of underdeveloped populations, and, yes, even of the sick, stressed, and overweight “consumer” populations of overdeveloped countries. It is also considered a movement that offers a path toward moving back to living within the limits-to-growth dilemma”.

Somewhere in Dayton’s portfolio, I will bet you will find some Green Energy Investments. It is always “follow the money”.

Minnesota DemonicRat Grand Poobah Dayton should lead by example and voluntarily stop personally releasing carbon dioxide and other noxious global-warming gases into the atmosphere.

I believe they should eliminate coal use also. Let them freeze to death. We are now entering into the age of stupidity. The only chance of survival is to let those advocating for and pushing it to kill themselves off as soon as possible. Then the survivors will be able to rebuild.

Whether its blasting Stewart Mills for being wealthy or blaming the Koch Brothers for exercising their rights to political speech, the Democrats have zero credibility.

Here’s one difference, however. The Koch Brothers and Stewart Mills earned their wealth. The other guy is a trust fund baby who has never created a job in his life. And the same goes for his ex-wife, who is the queen of buying elections here in Minnesota.

Hey, Dayton. Your campaign called. They need money for another email. Time to sell another piece of art.

If we built nuke plants as often as stadiums, we’d be fine.

The guy probably couldn’t change his own tire, but he knows all there is to know about producing energy.
