Ukraine Separatists Release Bodies and Black Boxes

KIEV, Ukraine — After days of obstruction, Russia-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine reached an agreement with Malaysia on Monday, surrendering the flight recorder boxes of the Malaysia Airlines jetliner downed by a surface-to-air missile last week, and allowing the bodies of the victims to be evacuated by train.

The agreement, announced by the Malaysian prime minister, Najib Razak, in a live television broadcast, appeared to represent a significant movement to end the standoff after the crash of Flight 17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which killed 298 people. The bodies lay for days in a wheat field in eastern Ukraine, an area controlled by the separatists.

The refusal of the separatists to permit unfettered access to the crash site has further raised suspicions that they may have been responsible for the missile strike. The obstruction has also generated enormous international criticism of the Ukrainian separatists and of President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia.

Mr. Najib, speaking from Kuala Lumpur, said the agreement with Alexander Borodai, a commander of the separatist forces in the city of Donetsk, Ukraine, called for the bodies to be taken by train to Kharkiv, a city held by the Ukrainian government. Six Malaysian representatives were to oversee the transfer of the bodies in Kharkiv to the custody of the Netherlands.

Now to permit unfettered access to the shootdown site —

They promised to withdraw to a 25 sq mi perimeter.

Let’s see if they do it.

Technically, according to international agreements, the maker of the aircraft is supposed to LEAD the investigation. The Russians had no right (according to the agreement), to take any pieces of the aircraft, or any possessions of the passengers; or to remove the bodies.

The CRIME SCENE has been totally destroyed .. and my best guess would be that it was on purpose so nobody could see the damage to the aircraft in order to make an accurate account of what hit the aircraft and where.

Well that's an offer of nothing coming from those looting thugs.

They stand around there with their weapons at the ready with the full intent of intimidating any one and everyone.

“They stand around there with their weapons at the ready”

Just hours after heavy fighting not 10 miles away from that very spot. Try thinking, it might help.

“Well that’s an offer of nothing coming from those looting thugs”

The real question isn’t whether the rebels, or Kiev, will honor a ceasefire, but will the Right Sector/Oligarch militias honor it. They are operating outside of Kiev’s control, but with Kiev’s support.

They were using their weapons not 10 miles away but displaying them to intimidate people 10 feet away to keep them from accessing the shootdown site —

You really are a shameless Russian partisan, aren’t you???

You have a brain, try using it. If noting FACTS makes me a “Shameless Russian Partisan”, does that mean the FACTS have a pro-Russian bias??

Now, if you had tried THINKING, you would know that there was fighting not far from there within the last few hours, and now Kiev is claiming it wasn’t “Their people”, but one of the “independent militias” that they don’t control.

It was actually the Ukrainian troops trapped in the airport trying to break out, but to admit the FACT that it was their units throwing mortars around Central Donetsk while all those Europeans were in town, would make Kiev look bad, yet again.

Do you have so little regard for people here that you postulate that slop.

I watched the video of the OSCE trying to access the site and all the thuggish armed guards standing in their way.

Any shooting there might have been was 10 miles away. They were clearly keeping them from the site while they themselves were pilfering through it.

Don't you realize that those corpses pose a direct threat? And the wreckage.

How else can anyone prove that the bodies were already dead when they boarded the flight (as Gherkin claimed).

And where are the Russian & Ukrainian Orthodox churches in the midst of this humanitarian crisis??

(Not to expect a real answer, given that “Pope Vladi” probably gives the marching orders from Moscow.)

Height of cynicism and vanity:

Donetsk militants insisting on signing “official” documents with the Malaysian investigators to allow them access to the site. Signing official international documents, with letterhead and all. Almost like having a seat at the UN

When I heard the president on radio saying evidence was being destroyed to cover up a crime scene, I wasn’t sure if it was this or IRS officials he was referring to.
