Over the weekend, New York City, defying those who think such a move is insulting to the poor, approved a move by the developer Extell to build a separate entrance at an Upper West Side condominium for its affordable housing tenants.

Dingy Harry Reid - “In the summer because of the heat and high humidity, you could literally smell the tourists coming into the Capitol.”

Yet both groups vote the same way. What an oddity.

Typical Liberals.

They love blacks as long as they don’t have to live with them.

Well, that comes as good news for Mitt Romney. Now he can establish himself as a resident of New York City without having to be soiled by contact with the peasants.

I bet the rich libs will demand more than the usual drywall between them and the Sec 8 renters.

libtards regard this as enlightened.

i regard it as back of the bus, separate ut equal.

libs talk a great game about wanting this stuff but when it’s where they live they want to wall it off.

It’s stupid laws that force these buildings to also, essentially, provide government housing within their residential structures.

I’m not sure how many people on FR with the opportunity to have otherwise would choose to share a building entrance with public housing.

It’s what I’ve been saying for years . . . they won’t live with them, send their kids to schools, shop in areas minority-centric

The “Diversity” is always towards their own neighborhoods . .as long as it’s not “too much” and they have plenty of their own for protection

“Why, I have a black family and a Latino family in my neighborhood!”

I agree with you. If I have earned enough money to live in an expensive NY residence, then I want the fancy lobby, doorman, etc. I do not want to share it with people who are not going to pay for the upkeep of the doorman, and the fancy lobby. It is the same example when the government tries to throw section 8 housing in middle to upper class suburbs in the name of equality.

Yep. Obama’s crew would like to do that across the country. They’ve particularly been working on Westchester County, just north of NYC.

The people SCREAMING about this are giving themselves away.

Considering that this building is providing much-needed housing for the poor, it seems that “affordable housing” was NEVER their goal, but rather putting the destitute in the FACES of better off people is their goal.

As Rush ALWAYS says, look at their actions, not their words. Here their words are met - and they should be CELEBRATING. A bunch of RICH PEOPLE are going to carry the entire freight for a hundreds of poor people to essentially live for free. Even the government doesn’t have to pay here.

But they DO NOT celebrate, for they are not achieving what they REALLY WANT, which is putting these people in their faces...on the same elevators, on the same floors.

It’s no different than when every homeless shelter REQUIRES its residents to leave EVERY MORNING and only come back in the evening. Why not let them stay put, at least for short periods of time? Because they cannot GET IN YOUR FACE if they stay put...and that is the REAL GOAL here.
