Hamas is losing on the battlefield but hitting Israel where it hurts

The all-clear had sounded in Nir Am quarter of an hour prior but soldiers were still walking the kibbutz's paths in helmets and full combat gear on Monday morning. The fact that two Hamas attack teams had emerged from a tunnel exit only a few hundred meters away from the fence and in the ensuing firefight killed four soldiers, including a battalion commander, before they were killed themselves, was hard to shake off.

For three hours the members of the kibbutz and guests at the small motel (mainly journalists) had to remain indoors while the soldiers made sure no Hamas fighters had managed to get inside. The fact they had been wearing IDF uniforms, including regulating combat netting on their helmets, made everyone all the more jumpy. The calm was finally restored to the leafy kibbutz, disturbed every few minutes by the booms from a nearby artillery battery giving covering fire for the IDF forces fighting a few kilometers away in the eastern suburbs of Gaza.

The Hamas teams had been spotted first by IDF surveillance towers. The women soldiers operating the screens had received strict orders to constantly scan not only their sectors of responsibility across the fence in Gaza but also what the military ironically calls "the depth" - nearby Israeli territory where the infiltrators may have emerged undetected from under the ground. That was how the attackers who took out a tank and captured Gilad Shalit in June 2006 got through without being detected. That is still the vulnerable area, up close to the Israeli villages. And destroying those tunnels is a dangerous job, as seen in the deaths of three IDF paratroopers who were blown up by a Hamas booby trap while entering a tunnel entrance on Wednesday morning.

The major financier of Hamas is Qatar ... which Israel is complaining loudly about - to the world, right now!

Hamas is being financed by Qatar, and supported by Turkey ... and Turkey is a member of NATO ... no less!

In Qatari-Backed Trip, UN ‘s Ban Ki-moon Laid Low by Israel’s Peres

Israeli President Shimon Peres on Wednesday told United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon that Israel would not stand by while Qatar, which paid for the UN official’s private flight to the Middle East, continued to finance Hamas militants, and took Ban to task for the two UN-run schools found to be housing Hamas rockets in Gaza.

In his last full day in office, Peres, a historically dovish leader, struck a defiant tone in a statement delivered to the media after meeting Ban at the President’s Residence, in Jerusalem.

“Qatar does not have the right to send money for rockets and tunnels which are fired at innocent civilians,” Peres said. “Their funding of terror the must stop.”

Newsweek‘s Benny Avni reported on Monday that the Qatari government paid for the UN Secretary General’s flight through the Middle East, where his first stop on Sunday was Doha, where he denounced Israel’s Operation Protective Edge’s battle in Shuja’iya, a border city that had been overrun by competing Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad fighters, and where rockets were hidden in mosques, hospitals, playgrounds and cemeteries connected by tunnels used to infiltrate the Israeli border and attack Kibbutz Nahal Oz a mile away.

US blocked Qatari funds intended for Hamas employee
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3180818/posts

The United States has blocked the transfer of Qatari funds earmarked for the salaries of civil servants hired by Hamas in Gaza, The Times of Israel has learned.

A diplomatic source in the Gulf state, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that Qatar had transferred hundreds of millions of dollars to Arab Bank for the salaries of some 44,000 Hamas civil servants. Those civil servants — employed by Hamas in Gaza since its takeover of the Strip in 2007 – were rendered jobless by the unity agreement with Fatah last month.

But the money was never processed by Arab Bank and delivered to Hamas, the source told The Times of Israel, due to pressure from the Americans, who consider Hamas a terror organization.

“This is strange, since funds from Qatar have never been blocked in the past,” the source said, referring to the $400 million aid package pledged by Qatari ruler Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa during his visit to Gaza in October 2012.

Hamas’s deputy political bureau chief Moussa Abu Marzouk lambasted Arab Bank for neglecting to process the funds in comments posted on his Facebook page June 28.

Israel singles out Qatar as key Hamas terror sponsor

Gulf emirate is branded the villain behind Hamas belligerence, with PM’s former security adviser saying it funds tunnel diggers and rocket launchers.

President Shimon Peres accused Qatar on Wednesday of becoming “the world’s largest funder of terror” due to its financial support for Hamas in Gaza.

“Qatar does not have the right to send money for rockets and tunnels which are fired at innocent civilians,” the outgoing statesman told UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in Jerusalem. “Their funding of terror must stop. If they want to build then they should, but they must not be allowed to destroy.”

Qatar’s recently attempted to transfer funds for the salaries of Hamas civil servants in Gaza, following the formation of a Palestinian unity government, but was blocked by the United States, which pressured the Arab Bank not to process them. But former national security adviser Maj. Gen. (res) Yaakov Amidror told The Times of Israel that the emirate’s funding for the organization’s terror apparatus, including tunnel diggers and rocket launchers, has continued unabated.

The Absolute NO is a formidable hurdle. Wretchard gets it just right:

"Nihilism isn’t the absence of a belief. It is something subtly different: it is the belief in nothing. The most powerful weapon of terrorism is therefore the unyielding No. “No I will not give up. No I will not tell the truth. No I will not play fair. No I will not spare children. No I will not stop even if you surrender to me; I will not cease even if you give me everything you have, up to and including your children’s lives. Nothing short of destroying me absolutely can make me stop. And therefore I will defeat you even if you kill me. Because I will make you pay the price in guilt for annihilating me.”

Gulf Arab states weigh sanctions on ‘sisterly’ Qatar for its drift into Iran orbit
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3184291/posts

http://www.worldtribune.com/2014/03/10/gulf-arab-states-weigh-sanctions-on-sisterly-qatar-for-its-drift-into-iran-orbit/

ABU DHABI — Qatar could face Gulf Cooperation Council sanctions amid its support of Hizbullah and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Officials and analysts said Qatar could be penalized by the GCC for Doha’s support of groups deemed threats to the region.

The officials said the sanctions could include the closure of borders by Qatar’s neighbors.

“Qatar could face sanctions imposed by the Gulf countries, including the closing of borders with Qatar, and air space to it if Doha doesn’t stop supporting the Muslim Brotherhood,” Abdul Khaleq Abdullah, a leading United Arab Emirates analyst, said.

On March 4, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the UAE withdrew their ambassadors from Qatar. In an unprecedented statement, the three GCC states said Doha, in violation of a regional security accord signed in November 2013, refused to end support of the Brotherhood and Hizbullah.

Smells pretty dang fishy to me, Muslim Brohood.

Qatar is definitely “Muslim Brotherhood” material, and for quite a while.

Israel shouldn’t feel one ounce of guilt for killing these rodents. There is no other alternative for Israel. They will either wipe out their enemies or they will be wiped out by the enemies.
