Separatists fighting the Kiev government claimed credit for shooting down two warplanes Wednesday over eastern Ukraine near where a passenger airliner crashed last week after being struck by a missile.
The attack on the warplanes came just six days after the Malaysia Airlines disaster...

Do we still have the Wild Weasels?
So what did they use to shoot it down -- those BUK launched SAMs that the Thugs of Donetsk claim that they don't have???
BTW the missiles came from Russian territory -- so much for the Cease Fire.
Nope. Dedicated SAM suppression aircraft are no more. Instead we send out our strike fighters with a couple of HARM missiles to do the same thing.
Reports are that they were SU-25 Frogfoot ground attack aircraft, the counterpart to the A-10. Their defined mission is to come in low and slow and shoot or bomb the heck out of any targets on the ground spotted by the pilot. Unfortunately, this means that they’re right in the basket for a shoulder-launched man portable surface to air missile like a Stinger or in the East Bloc world, a Strela, Igla or Grom missile.
That AK’s had a little bit of use, judging by the ‘AK Scratch’ on the side.
If the rebels brought the SU-25s down then they broke the Cease Fire.
If the Russians brought them down then they committed an act of war.
So which is it???
How dare those rebels defend themselves!
Neither the governments nor the rebels claims could be verified.
Such is the state of "reporting" these days.
The problem with the whole situation is that both sides happen to have the exact same weapons and the formal military units tend to be conscripts. Friendly MANPAD fire taking down their own side’s aircraft was something so common in Soviet pattern forces that many operations assumed a certain percentage of their air power would be lost due to idiot conscripts shooting their own planes out of the sky.
Likelihood? Small.
Even if it was the rebels (as it seems to be), the MANPADS don’t have to have come from Russia. Enough Ukrainian armories have been looted, after all.
Yeh those 298 people onboard MH17 were a real threat to them --
Where are the rest of the bodies McGruff???
Putting SU-25 ground attack aircraft into action over the conflict zone breaks the cease fire. The shoot down speaks for itself.
Your lies about Russian BUKs being involved speaks for itself also.
It is called a Cease Fire -- not a Cease Fly.
But we do now see how you honor Cease Fire agreements.
Defending the ticket counter of Russia Rail?
Best I could do on zero sleep...
