New poll shows Roberts barrrrely ahead of Democrat Taylor (electable establishment candidates?)

Here’s why incumbent politicians hate competitive primaries: They only hurt poll numbers.

A new poll from SurveyUSA for KSN-TV in Wichita showed Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts leading Democrat Chad Taylor in a November general-election matchup by 38-33 percent.

Check that out again: 38-33 percent. Here’s a question: When’s the last time a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate has been within the margin of error in any race going back decades?

Remember that no Democrat has won a Kansas Senate race since 1932. That’s the longest such streak in the nation.

Independent candidate Greg Orman took 14 percent — that’s up from 7 percent in June — while undecided voters accounted for 10 percent and a Libertarian candidate took 4 percent.

The numbers suggest that Roberts primary fight with tea partier Milton Wolf is undermining his once robust political standing in the state.

The survey showed that Roberts led Wolf by 20 points. That’s down from a 33-point spread in June.

Wolf has campaigned hard on the idea that Roberts’ 47 years in Washington is too long and that’s it’s time for a fresh face.

Oh, SurveyUSA also checked the governor’s race and found that Democrat Paul Davis has marginally extended his lead over Republican Gov. Sam Brownback. The new finding shows the race at 48-40 percent.

I can hear it now, “lets stop giving the peons a say in things, let’s pick out candidates and they can live with who we pick”

Sounds like Kansas is going through another of its "crazy times" again... remember, this was the same state that propelled the thoroughly detestable Kathleen Sebelius to prominence.

I got a poll call yesterday. Guy wanted to know if I would vote for Roberts or the democrat. I said I was voting for Wolf. Guy says that is not a permissible answer, it is Roberts or the democrat only. Now i told him i would vote for a pig before a democrat, especially this democrat. Then follows a lot of questions all phrased against the democrat. Obviously poll was by Roberts’ people. So now they have me listed as a strong Roberts supporter! Polls show what the poll payer wants them to reflect.

Same showing for the slime bag McConnell, yet the GOPE trash was unmoved, they want what they want and the base be damned.
