Ukrainian armed forces mounted a major onslaught against pro-Russian separatist fighters Sunday in an attempt to gain control over the area where a Malaysia Airlines plane was downed earlier this month.
Reports of the intensifying unrest prompted a postponement of a trip to the site by a team of Dutch and Australian police officers that had planned to start searching for evidence and the remaining bodies.
In Washington, the State Department released satellite images which it says show that Russia has fired rockets more than seven miles (11 kilometers) into eastern Ukraine.
The images, from the U.S. Director of National Intelligence, show blast marks from where rockets were launched and craters where they landed. They are said to show strikes between July 21 and July 26....
Local media reported fighting also taking place in the towns of Snizhne and Torez, the two nearest mid-sized towns to the crash site....
Ten days after the disaster, a full-fledged investigation still has not begun at the crash site, with some bodies still unrecovered and the site forensically compromised.
It remained unclear when the forensic experts from the Netherlands and Australia would be able to begin their work at the site.
Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said in a statement that his country would send dozens of police and that his country had received assurances from pro-Russia separatists that they would provide protection for investigators.
The Malaysia Airlines disaster prompted some expectations in the West that Russia would scale back its involvement in the uprising in Ukraine's east, but the opposite seems to be the case.
In addition to producing evidence that rockets have been fired into Ukraine from Russia, the United States has said it has seen powerful rocket systems moving closer to the border.

Its embarrassing sharing the same forum as those who fawn over Putin and side with aggressive tyranny. In order to rationalize their twisted logic, hyperbole and lies are leveled at those of us who do not blame America for the actions of tyrants abroad.
I would like to think an honest man could and would have opposed FDR, Hitler, and Stalin. Maybe you think that a man must be for Putin or for Obama. It’s a strange and very fatuous idea that a conservative American would favor either Putin or Obama. They’re both philosophically and morally at odds with the principles of American conservatism.
I share your sentiments. I find it odd that the oath many of us have taken - to protect and defend the US Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic - is not something these folks understand. They’re actually like the dilettante Left. When the Left gets mad at a Republican, they suck up to a foreign despot - Stalin, Mao, Ho, Castro, or Chavez. Now, we’ve nominal but know nothing conservatives cheering on Putin in his illegal and undeclared war so that he can reestablish the Soviet empire under his President for Life authoritarianism. Are they really this crass? And if you criticize Putin, they assume you’re for the statist Obama.

I initially responded under the impression that you were giving the characteristics of Putin worshipers. A better phrasing of my response would have been, “Obama worshipers do the same things that were enumerated in your initial post in reference to Putin worshipers. And no, I do not think that a man must be for either or Obama. Thank you for a well thought out civil and enlightening response.
I am the wrong person to ask that question. You need to look in a mirror and ask yourself. As far as not liking the comment, that is your right not to like it.
Name five[5] reasons that led you to believe from reading the post that I am on the Russian/ anti American side.
