And modern liberalism is rooted in the collective ideal, that all property is held in common, not individually. In fact, there is no place for the individual in modern liberalism. All desire must be subordinated to the Collective.

I would guess few really plumb the depths of liberalism (or conservatism) and question why they vote for more and bigger government which will eventually destroy their own livelihoods.
