California vs. Texas: Which model is shape of the future?
Baltimore Sun ^

Posted on 07/29/2014 2:31:02 PM PDT by TigerClaws

After six decades of doing business in California, Toyota is moving its North American headquarters to Texas. That means 3,000 of the carmaker's jobs will be leaving Torrance and going to Plano, perhaps convincing California officials they should stop Texas Gov. Rick Perry at the border the next time he attempts to come to the Golden State for another raid on businesses.

Ansel, DO's point concerning federal economic & social incentives - the same ones available here in CA - is a good one - and I haven't seen you answer it.

Illegals are flooding into your state - I doubt that a few years in a Texas school will suddenly have all of these immigrants remembering the Alamo.

IMO blood has proven thicker than water where the contemporary politics of race are concerned. You're whistling past the graveyard - if something is not done Texas will indeed be lost.

Ansel, you are refusing to admit you have a serious problem. The issues I have listed to you are out of your states control. You are aimply mis-informed.

You can deflect all you like. It doesn’t change what is taking place in your state.

Calling me a liar isn’t going to change it.

Your state tax dollars are being drained to pay for the education of illegal immigrant children. That means less tax dollars are available for the children of citizens.

Your hospitals are under extreme fiscal pressure due to the services they provide to people who don’t pay.

If you wish to deny this is taking place, that’s okay. Everyone knows it is. You are folling nobody but yourself here.

What scares me is that Californians leave for other states (like Colo) and turn them blue. AND the immigrants replacing those who leave are MORE liberal than the ones who left.

I’m not refusing anything, except your direct comparison.

Texas and California have the exact same percentage of Hispanics, and only a five point difference in whites, yet California has long been blue and doesn’t have a single statewide elected republican, and Texas is the complete opposite.

The GOP hasn’t won California since the 1980s, even when the white population was over 57%, yet Texas is in a totally different place, it is the opposite to California, and that needs to be studied.

Anyone can say get on a thread called “California vs. Texas: Which model is shape of the future?” and simply, immigration will make them the same, when the reality is that it hasn’t so far, and the importance of these threads is to examine why, what really killed California so easily DECADES AGO and why does Texas just get more red?

You can’t fight something if you don’t even know that weapons and the ability to fight exists.

I get the impression that you are more on an anti-Texas agenda than anything related to immigration and conservative answers to it, and to saving a state, with or without immigration problems.

It’s easy to see why California so easily drifted into becoming a totally blue state.

Funny thing is, I never said Texas was like California. What I addressed was Texas exposure to the negative impacts of illegal immigration and what it portended for your future.

And all you did was deny deny deny deny...

Read up on the subject. Do a google search and study up on what Illegal Immigration is costing your state.

When it finally dawns on you, that it doesn’t matter which party is in control, you’ll realize that Texas is losing $12 billion plus in revenue each year being paid out to cover the cost of illegal immigration.

It is also costing the federal government a boat-load of funding. That costs each of us partner. Another funny aspect of this, or perhaps better described as just strange, is the avoidance other states residents exhibit.

Years ago when I said illegal immigration was going to cost my state dearly, folks in other states thought it was just California’s own fault. Now that we see other states paying tens of billions of dollars on illegal immigrants, they still try to shift the talk to California.

Your state is paying out over $12 billion annually. None the less, there you sit telling me you have no problems with illegal immigration.

How much would be a problem then? $20 billion annually? $30, $50... you tell me.

Ansel, look guy you’re going more fringe by the moment.

If I prove you’ve got a problem with the costs of illegal immigration, I’m all of a sudden anti-Texas.

Do you think it’s anti-Texas to point out and lament the cost of illegal immigration to your state?

I’m defending your state, asking folks to wake up and recognize what’s taking place.

The least of my concerns is about money lost, that is temporary and can be changed, my first concern is America, it’s culture it’s conservatism and it’s social conservatism.

California went blue decades ago and it was about a lot more than Hispanics, it was blue when it was almost 60% white.

Nancy Pelosi is from Baltimore. Barbara Boxer is from Brooklyn. Willie Brown is from Texas. Gray Davis is from the Bronx. Leland Yee is from Guandong. etc etc etc.

So we conservative Californians should thank the rest of you for contributing your share to this nut house.

So another-words now that you’ve been nailed on your ignorance related to the cost of illegal immigration in your state, suddenly the subject is the political make-up of each state.

Who argued that California wasn’t blue? Anyone? No. So what’s the bone of contention there? Well, there isn’t one.

I tried to warn you what the ultimate cost of illegal immigration would be on your state government. And the guy who didn’t realize there was a $12 billion plus hole in his state’s budget, refused to hear it.

If your state is do damned Conservative, how come it’s paying out over $12 billion dollars for the cost of illegal immigrants?

Crickets...

You just keep making things up.

I am not interested in the dollar cost, and haven’t expressed any such interest at any time.

This is about blue versus red, the flag ship state for the American left, versus the flag ship state for the American right.

Now you want to go insane and argue that Texas isn’t conservative.

This is just silly.

So far the evidence is that the Californians moving to Texas, are mostly conservatives seeking to escape California.

“They also forget that Texas and California have EXACTLY the same percentage of Hispanics.”

So the ethnic demorgaphics between TX and CA are similar, but the political, social, moral, and economic character is complete opposite.

In other words, the differences between the two states has nothing to do with skin color and everything to do with the choices of their people.

“Sadly the liberal Californians bring their misguided politics with them to Texas and continue to vote Democrat.”

Several months ago, someone here at FR posted an article that should give you hope about this. It provided facts that go against this lament. Namely, Texas is attracting conservatives who are wise enough to abandon lib states, most especially CA.

So the belief that it is ONLY lib Californians who are invading TX is false.

“Thanks to decades of media lies the world believe the GOP is the party of white racists, as do the vast majority of those entering the country from the third world.”

It is more than that; it is about divide and conquer. Here in NJ we have a white-majority state, but as long as white women vote Dem we end up with one black and one Hispanic senator. The masters of the lie that own our media have done their work well; if Americans were unified in their voting then the Third World invasion would have much less influence (and be moch better controlled).
