While the number of new students not beyond the capacity of the school system, adolescents pose a series of unprecedented challenges.

“Paper on Immigrant I.Q. Dogs Critic of Overhaul

The revelation that a co-author of a Heritage Foundation study critical of the Senate’s bipartisan immigration proposal had recently argued that Hispanic immigrants are less intelligent than white Americans touched off a furor on Wednesday, undercutting the conservative foundation’s attempt to become a major force in the immigration debate.

In a 2009 dissertation for a public-policy doctorate at Harvard University, Jason Richwine, the co-author, wrote that Hispanic immigrants generally had an I.Q. that was “substantially lower than that of the white native population” — and that the lower intelligence of immigrants should be considered when drafting immigration policy.”

This is what I've been telling people on this forum for months. From my personal experience at a NYC high school for immigrants from Spanish-speaking countries who have been in the U.S. for less than 4 years, I have seen that a great many of the students are illiterate in Spanish! Many of them only attended school sporadically in their native countries, having been called away to participate in migrant farm labor activities and the like. Many of them cannot do the simplest math. Most of them seem extremely UNAMBITIOUS and very few of them are willing to really put themselves out to excel academically.

The only things I have seen them demonstrate real enthusiasm for are (1) having their hands all over each other, even in class (with plenty of big bellies to indicate the end result) and (2) playing soccer. Even while waiting in line in the cafeteria, they will make a large paper wad and start kicking it down the line, breaking out of line to pursue it. Never saw anything like this at the average high school.

Every FReeper should warn their local school boards that they have no intent of increasing funding to support illegals in their schools.

When they inevitably accuse you of harming children for political reasons, just point out that if schools are in that dire shape, those who import illegals are the ones harming children.

" And in most cases they do not speak English or Spanish, adding that most of those children speaking other languages mam and your own region."

I just saw this the other day at a cable TV provider of all places. This 4'3" woman with three kids was talking to the employee who had to keep asking her to repeat herself, She was speaking a dialect of spanash hard to understand by a local native speaker.

Some of them don’t speak any Spanish at all. Some speak Indian languages only.

What is so terribly wrong with a "Learn English First" immersion camp.
Once they comprehend basic English, after being de-loused, treated and vaccinated as all American children must be, THEN put them in the school system.
If they can't understand what's being said in the classroom, we're wasting years of their lives, and ours.

Back in the good old days, our ancestors had to enter the US legally. To do that, the had to prove they were healthy and could make a living for their families. Mine came to Texas from Europe in 1870 and had to have a bill of sale for property bought in this country before they were allowed in. There was no help with the language, no welfare, no government housing or food provided.

Today, these illegals are given everything, living more comfortably than many of the taxpayers who are supporting them. Educationally, they are in the Stone Age and that will be a nightmare of a money pit. And wait until the new gangs begin turf wars with the old gangs in our cities. Republicans should make the Democrats own this disaster and keep their hands off any funding that enables it.

Yes, you are right, most inland natives speak a language other than spanish although some spanish words have found their way in there.

In this case though I can understand enough "spanglish" the official border language. This woman had a distinct accent and didn't know words for things associated with technology.

There was a lot of pointing at "ese cosa". "Los cosas" BTW were the cable decoder box, remote and coaxial cable. It appears the woman did not know how to link everything together.

And the folks back home are getting letters and phone calls:
“C’mon up, they love us! Food, shelter, doctors—all free!”

Yes. Likely challenged on every academic and sociological level. BUT! They will be fast-tracked to vote in the quickest way possible. That’s IF they survive the diseases they brought here with them.

Oldeconomybuyer:" The federal government is promoting an invasion by poor, illiterate criminals. Tyranny."

This is Obama's FEDGov. subsidized invasion of "staygrants" , who are also "dependents" (youths and their mothers).
A 'Migrant' is somone who travels from work location ,to another work location for purposes of employment

What is the difference between Moslem Palestinians hiding behind a shield of children and women to unstabilize a nation
and an invasion of illegal immigrants to an unsecured border to hide behind a shield of children ,women , and narco-Cartel mules to unstabilize a nation ?
Same moslem program ,.. just a different location.
