Kerry Cronin, who teaches a philosophy class at Boston College, was shocked some years ago during a class on student hookup culture, when a student inquired, How would you ask someone on a date?
Its easy to hook up with someone youve just met in a dark room after having a few drinks, said freshman Frank DiMartino, who took the class. But asking someone out on a date in broad daylight, when you actually have to know their name, can be really scary.
Other schools are apparently taking notice of the need to explain the socialization/dating procedure, according to The Boston Globe. At Duke University, the Counseling and Psychological Services office runs a series called How to Be in Love, which also helps students, recognize toxic romance and analyze their break-ups. And in a weekly spring workshop, The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign included sessions on being single and ready to mingle and uncovering the dating scene, among other topics.
Did you see the size of that piece of cake?!?!?! Whoa!
today’s satire frequently becomes tomorrow’s news.
Sadly true.
and truly sad
