Journalist Rick Shaftan on Focal Point: GOP Establishment Panicked, Broke the Law in Mississippi

RNC Rules: No. 11(B) – Candidate Support

According to the public letter from leading conservatives to RNC Chair Reince Priebus, the nefarious tactics of the Barbour/Cochran machine against Chris McDaniel is likely in violation of the RNC’s own rules, adopted in 2012, specifically rule 11(B). In their letter they wrote that the rule “makes clear the Committee’s belief that Republican nomination contests should be decided by the votes of Republicans – and which goes so far as to declare that the Republican National Committee shall not recognize as the nominee of the Republican Party any nominee whose nomination results from a process in which voters who participated in the selection of a nominee of any other party also participated in the selection of the Republican nominee.”

Here is the rule in question:

Rule No. 11 – Candidate Support

(b) No state Republican Party rule or state law shall be observed that allows persons who have participated or are participating in the selection of any nominee of a party other than the Republican Party, including, but not limited to, through the use of a multi-party primary or similar type ballot, to participate in the selection of a nominee of the Republican Party for that general election. No person nominated in violation of this rule shall be recognized by the Republican National Committee as the nominee of the Republican Party from that state.

It’s hard for us to believe that Reince Priebus will do anything to Henry Barbour, being that the RNC Chair is Haley Barbour’s boy!

Maybe Rule 11(b) has been discussed elsewhere.

But it sounds like the GOP must invalidate the election of Thad Cochran because it was Democratic support that he relied on to get elected...

In another article on Freerepublic, it has been announced during the annual meeting of the GOP (this year in Chicago) that this issue will be taken up. Not necessarily Rule 11(b) but how the Barbour-Cochran used shady tactics in the runoff against Chris McDaniel.

Has it been determined whether anything ILLEGAL was done? Thank you. I have not been following this very much for several weeks now.

It has been reported that at least one member of the campaign staff broke FEC rules by receiving $15,000 to $16,000.

There is a limit well under $1000 for re-imbursing someone on a campaign. So this was a clear violation of FEC election statues.

Whether or not this money was used to buy votes is unproved.

After the election, Cochran fired the campaign manager.

Whether that indicates that some of the people on the Cochran election campaign broke the law is unproven.

In terms of FEC wrongdoing, it is documented in another article. The Clarion Ledger (Jacksonville, MS) is the source.

An excerpt from the Freerepublic article:

The Clarion-Ledger of Jackson, Miss., reports that campaign adviser Austin Barbour said the campaign made a mistake when disclosing large sums listed as reimbursements for “Campaign Walkers” to staffer Amanda Shook.

Thad should withdraw, not likely, and since that won’t happen, if I lived in Mississippi and not being able to write-in I would blank the senate line. These crimes and racist tactics must not be rewarded, I honestly don’t care if control of the senate is on the line!

Since MS is still a third world state, I think I’ll drive down and vote illegally against Thad. All I have to do is tell them I’m a Democrat (lie of course).
