BAY CITY, MI — Wellspring Lutheran Services has secured a federal contract to provide short-term shelter at its Bay City facility for unauthorized immigrant children and teens from Central America.
Wellspring CEO David Gehm said Thursday, July 31, that the nonprofit is partnering with Lutheran Social Services of Michigan to provide care and services for the undocumented youths.
According to Gehm, 24 boys and girls, ages 6-13, will be housed at Wellspring's Bay City facility at 304 N. Tuscola Road. That facility currently serves as a foster home for teens who are transitioning into independent living. Those youths will be sent to a new facility.
The Central American children and teens will be housed at the facility for 30 to 45 days beginning sometime in late August, said Gehm. Following that time frame, the children and teens will either be placed with a U.S.-residing family member, returned to their country of origin or placed in a federally-funded specialized program. That decision is made by the U.S. Office of Refuge Resettlement, Gehm said.
While in Bay City, officials from Wellspring will focus on regimented indoor and outdoor activities that are age appropriate and based on the interests of the children. There will be teaching on-site, including language education.
"These will be activities that are fun, but also help assimilate them to this whole new culture they've entered for now," Gehm said.
In addition to Bay City, Wellspring and Lutheran Social Services of Michigan plan to house an additional 24 teen boys, ages 14-17, at Wellspring's Farmington Hills campus, which currently houses foster teens as part of its New Directions program. Both populations will exist concurrently at that campus, Gehm said.

Not much there is right. Mention of winter, these kids are going to want a quick bus ride back home come January and February.
Reminds me of the Chargers playing in Cincinnati, playoffs about 1983{?).
The Cincy players came out wearing `shorty’ jerseys.
They had to lay the Chargers out on the Silver Strand, and it was three days before they started to thaw.
I’m sure soon we’ll be hearing complaints about the weather from our uninvited guests. Maybe they’ll ask to go home then.

Lutheran social services was also involved with the illegals they brought into Grand Rapids and Lansing.

They have refurbished a male ICE camp into a women and children facility in Karnes City, TX. They turned another one into a women’s facility. That tells me they’re now bringing over the kids’ mothers just as we all predicted they would. Next, they’ll have to bring over daddy and all the cousins to reunite entire families. This invasion has been well planned.
