Donald Trump Says Ebola Patients Should Be Barred from U.S.
NBC News ^ | 1 Aug 14

Donald Trump expressed panic over news that an Ebola patient will be flown to a specialized isolation unit at an Atlanta hospital. The billionaire took to Twitter on Wednesday to suggest that American borders should be closed to anyone with the virus that has killed 729 people in West Africa. That would apparently include two U.S. citizens — a doctor and a missionary — who are fighting for their lives in Liberia.

"Stop the EBOLA patients from entering the U.S. Treat them, at the highest level, over there. THE UNITED STATES HAS ENOUGH PROBLEMS!" Trump tweeted. Some of the replies pointed out that health officials say the unit at Emory University Hospital was built specifically to contain a disease like Ebola, and that the virus is not as easily transmitted as the flu. CDC Director Thomas Frieden says that even if Ebola were to arrive in the U.S., it could be stamped out and poses little risk...

We’re talking Ebola here.
Panic IS the correct response.
He11, they’re bringing it to a half hour from where I am right now. Any screwup and I’m next door to Ground Zero of “OMFGWTFBBQ NAIL THE DOORS SHUT AND SHOOT ANYTHING THAT TRIES TO GET IN”.

How many people can stay indoors for three weeks? Most people don’t have three days worth of food or water at home and you want a quarantine them. They’d starve to death.

I feel bad for the American’s who became infected. HOWEVER, they CHOSE to go into a HOT ZONE on their own knowing this disease was there.

No way in hell we should be bringing this into the US.

“NBC bias much? It’s not panic...it’s common freakin’ sense.”

Agreed. I think it's a NBC’s way of making The Donald out to be somewhat irrational, or somehow letting his emotions get the better of him.

Nonsense. Let’s let the Ebola doctors sit next to Michelle at the next joint session of Congress.

Agree with Trump. Been thinking the same since I read about the Ebola patient being flown to the U.S. Probably better for the patient to be treated by specialists over there than to endure the long trip here.

Countries used to quarantine travelers/immigrants with infectious diseases who wished to enter.

EVERYONE along the route of travel is being put at potential risk.

This is politically correct but scientifically stupid.

Since there’s no cure for an easily communicable, extremely deadly disease, then everyone who has even a hint of a chance of exposure should be quarantined for the incubation time, and if found positive, then permanently quarantined.

A quarantine is the medical version of declaring war.

Agreed.

Of course, a national plague threat could be a reason for forbidding public gatherings—in November, for example...

...or instating martial law.

(cynical me, too)

Realistic.

They would love nothing more than an excuse to suspend elections and the body count wouldn’t faze then in the least.

It is hard to believe that such a horrifying disease has deliberately been brought from Africa to other nations. I will not be a bit suprised if it escapes into the our peoples. The people running things want it to be so and they have their survival plans layed out. Chaos is needed to change USA into their land.
