Posted on 08/01/2014 9:37:51 AM PDT by SkyPilot
Donald Trump expressed panic over news that an Ebola patient will be flown to a specialized isolation unit at an Atlanta hospital. The billionaire took to Twitter on Wednesday to suggest that American borders should be closed to anyone with the virus that has killed 729 people in West Africa. That would apparently include two U.S. citizens a doctor and a missionary who are fighting for their lives in Liberia.
"Stop the EBOLA patients from entering the U.S. Treat them, at the highest level, over there. THE UNITED STATES HAS ENOUGH PROBLEMS!" Trump tweeted. Some of the replies pointed out that health officials say the unit at Emory University Hospital was built specifically to contain a disease like Ebola, and that the virus is not as easily transmitted as the flu. CDC Director Thomas Frieden says that even if Ebola were to arrive in the U.S., it could be stamped out and poses little risk...

Obama’s SS will obtain MANY samples to use
as weapons later in his War against the American people.
Since there’s no cure for an easily communicable, extremely deadly disease, then everyone who has even a hint of a chance of exposure should be quarantined for the incubation time, and if found positive, then permanently quarantined.
A quarantine is the medical version of declaring war.
send the ones that are us citizens to gitmo
Anyone who has read the novel The Hot Zone knows that this disease is absolutely horrifying. It is also lethally "hot" - as it can be transmitted very, very easily.
The symptoms start with a piercing headache, followed by horrible vomiting and bleeding all over the body which is loaded with the virus.
The movie "Outbreak" was a tame, stupid Hollywood depiction that masked the horrors of this disease.
The one patient who was brought here was an American serving with missionary group. Two people on the mission (which cared for
Ebola patients) got it, and I read this morning that they has one dose of an experimental serum sent from the US and the other person who had contracted Ebola asked them to give her the dose. They are both still alive, sfaik, but I think it’s actually a good idea to monitor her here and see if the serum is effective.
It’s heading our way in any case.
Thank you, Mr. Trump.
Agree with Trump. Been thinking the same since I read about the Ebola patient being flown to the U.S. Probably better for the patient to be treated by specialists over there than to endure the long trip here.
Reeks of politics.
What happens if the jet crashes on landing or approach?
Bill Ayers is jactitating with glee!
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.
This post is one where a “Like” button would be great to have!
trump is an obnoxious buffoon....
but he’s right on this one...
like what could possibly go wrong with bringing people who are known health risks over here?
Anything can happen. Playing with fire IMO.
Well I won’t call Trump names, cause he is an American & does care about America much more than the current occupant of the WH! I’d rather see Trump as president! He’s exactly right on about this,
>>Donald Trump expressed panic<<
NBC bias much? It’s not panic...it’s common freakin’ sense.
Maybe someone should que our politicians in to the fact that this is one disease that is not specific to a particular voting bloc.
I sort of agree with trump.
The problem is what is the “highest level” they can get over there? It may not be as high as Trump is thinking.
Still it seems like the transport itself would be challenging to the patient. I question the wisdom of bringing them home prior to the illness being resolved.
The medical faculty who are counting on a near lifetime of guaranteed publications and a massive funding stream from this are too scared to actually GO to Africa.
They’d rather risk all of the rest of us here.
So should slavery aka islam!
You let the plane go up in total flames...pray for their souls and move on.
“CDC Director Thomas Frieden says that even if Ebola were to arrive in the U.S., it could be stamped out and poses little risk...”
Love this wording.......”even if”, “could be”, “poses little risk”
In the Liberals world, America deserves the exposure to Ebola too, why should we be immune, afterall, we are ALL African- Americans.
Did anyone here read “The Hot Zone”?
I tried to read it, based on a blurb from Stephen King that it was horrifying and “it just kept getting WORSE”
But after Chapter 1 (which really was pretty horrifying) the book sucked so bad I could not believe it- (I think Stephen king meant the quality of the writing- not the story)
It was the only book I ever returned to the bookstore to get my money back.
Should I have kept on past chapter 4?
(P.S. back then Stephen King had not yet opened his stupid yap about anything political.)
Maybe the patients can visit the NBC news room.
It could not be “stamped out” unless there were massive quarantines—an entire city, for example.
We should shut the borders to anyone coming from West Africa, until they have been held in isolation for three weeks (the incubation period).
Plagues have to be treated with ruthless efficiency—once they escape, it’s too late.
(Recall the flu plague of the 1920s—millions died. Think it can’t happen again?)
After how many innocent deaths from this little stunt.
Frieden should be held legally and personally and financially responsible if it gets loose from them.
Of course, a national plague threat could be a reason for forbidding public gatherings—in November, for example...
I agree. However, this is another crisis to keep the news media off Obama scandals.
They have in the past held quarantines of villages at 42 days from the last patient.
So that gives you a best guess for the amount of preppers stuff one should have on hand...
O’zero figures if whitey gets the E bola that a cure will be forthright promulgated. Send help to the affected and quarantine it stupid.
Right, good luck with that MSM.
There is no justification for flying that disease anywheres. If it flys the plane should be blown out of the air over the ocean
PING to Kartographer.
If I may add, mass quarantine would likely involve martial law & travel restrictions, wiping out any notions of grouping with like-minded preppers/tribe or bugging out.
I absolutely think snerdly is right -
the democrats think it isn’t fair that America DOESN’T have it,
so they’ll get it into America as quickly as they can.
They had the same attitude towards AIDS.
It’s not fair that only homos were getting it.
You trust the CDC and the government much more than I do. The CDC has had a rather horrible record of keeping track of samples recently, and we are sending one of the most dangerous viruses into downtown Atlanta?
Remember who we have in charge. Remember what the IRS gal called us, and remember how Georgia went last election.
We are not dealing with a flu bug, or with rational government actors.
The Hot Zone was not a novel.
Well, it does appear that they are taking every precaution, although anything now that Obama is president and has destroyed the missions of most of our better, formerly non-political agencies is suspect.
That said, I’m sure there are still good personnel at the CDC, and if they can identify something that at least mitigates Ebola, this will be a step in the right direction. It’s sure not going to happen in Africa.
That is the ‘most-awfulest’ made up verb I have read about in some time!! (Jactitaiting).
I hope you are right.
Unfortunately, I know to many in academic circles who desperately want an outbreak to “Reduce our footprint”. Many of them are now in the Obama administration.
It doesn’t have to be the doctors either.
The first precaution in plague us quarantine.
We’re talking Ebola here.
Panic IS the correct response.
He11, they’re bringing it to a half hour from where I am right now. Any screwup and I’m next door to Ground Zero of “OMFGWTFBBQ NAIL THE DOORS SHUT AND SHOOT ANYTHING THAT TRIES TO GET IN”.
This Frieden is living in Fantasyland.
Best case, big boom.
How many people can stay indoors for three weeks? Most people don’t have three days worth of food or water at home and you want a quarantine them. They’d starve to death.
I feel bad for the American’s who became infected. HOWEVER, they CHOSE to go into a HOT ZONE on their own knowing this disease was there.
No way in hell we should be bringing this into the US.
....or the White House.
Agreed. I think it's a NBC’s way of making The Donald out to be somewhat irrational, or somehow letting his emotions get the better of him.
Nonsense. Let’s let the Ebola doctors sit next to Michelle at the next joint session of Congress.
Countries used to quarantine travelers/immigrants with infectious diseases who wished to enter.
EVERYONE along the route of travel is being put at potential risk.
This is politically correct but scientifically stupid.
