At least we know where this guy is. There are going to be hundreds of unknown ebola immigrants that we will have no clue will be here. I also suspect that there will be suicide ebola patients coming across our southern border in the near future.

At least this guy will give our doctors an opportunity to learn how best to treat the disease when it gets here as an epidemic.

Why would there be a police escort? That’s useless. The cops can do nada and are unneeded.

Now whether or not the person is properly quarantined (which could be no more than a mask depending on status) is a different issue altogether.

If I were an Atlanta policeman, I wouldn't accept that detail. What do policemen have that give them immunity? What protection do they offer to others How did the author think he was going to arrive? Through the chimney?

He went through the front door. There's nothing to see here.

A breathing, walking, talking, WMD has just been released on the American public.

I feel sorry for the man, but there are procedures for dealing with someone who has a fast spreading deadly communicable disease, he should at least be encased in one of those safety suits he would have or should have worn while working with those infected with Ebola.

This is a Christian doctor who has put his life on the line fighting ebola, and could die as a result. I think we can trust he is going to act responsibly.

I would assume that means he has basically recovered. Some people do, and I think the reported death rate may be higher than it really is because most of the victims are Africans, who have a sparse diet, poor medical care and are not very good on taking care of themselves.

How many medivac’d patients do you know that are ALLOWED to ambulate themselves into hospital?

Much less over sharp rocks while wearing a level 4 suit...

Yes...Ebola is bad news, no disagreement here. However, he has not been “released on the American public”. I would be willing to bet he is under the strictest isolation available. If he doesn’t recover, he is going to die in a most horrid and frightening way. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

What if they were in a fender bender?

What if there’s a minute tear or rip in his suit?

It takes one (1) viron to cause infection.

And the dithering over ‘airborne’ seems to be mainly over the size of the droplet required to do the trick:

I thin we can trust he is going to act responsibly

Responsibly would be staying where he was until he went through a quarantine to assure he's "safe" before entering the US. Responsibly would be figuring out how supposedly well-protected people got the disease before anyone who might have been infected left.

Yes I’m sure Africans are at a disadvantage with all diseases. Malnourished in many, if not most, cases. But of course there are vulnerable people everywhere, children, old people, people who are already sick in some way. Not every single person died of smallpox or plague either, but an awful lot did.

On top of that consider this: The CDC is part of the obama regime; Obama is dedicated to the destruction of the US; one-thousand miles from Atlanta, obama is importing other communicable diseases across the border; throughout the US, obama is “redistributing” the disease carriers to all points within the country; obama banned flights to Israel, but not flights to the US from Western Africa; this week, obama is importing several African leaders for a supposed summit meeting.

What if they’d gotten in a wreck? You see, that’s how my mind works. I don’t think a police escort would have been out of line. Or close the roads entirely. We do that for Obama, etc.

You are correct as there has never been a ambulance in an automobile accident before in the US which resulted in bodily fluids spewed all over the place.

There’s got to be some evacuation facility with those suits. After all, it’s the bodily fluids that must be contained.

Yeah. Why bother using a plane when they can go to S. America and hike across the border.

They don't even have to cross the border. Just get themselves infected and then stand on the Mexican side of the fence and cough on everyone that goes by or hand out water bottles with spit in them. Just let the illegal "immigrants" carry it over the fence. Then our government will gladly ship them all over the country before we even know they have been infected.

This is what is bound to happen now that we have no borders.

Around here if you’re put into an ambulance for anything you enter the ER via gurney or wheel chair even if you’re ambulatory.

Precisely.

I copped a ride to the ER once after a fall (I was pg). Even though I was totally ambulatory I wasn’t given a choice in the matter. Legal reasons and such I was told.

Actually you are the one screaming like a woman.

He is a U.S. doctor who got sick on a Christian mission, he needs to be treated here.

It is also good that he will bring his experience and symptoms, and hoped for recovery to the containment unit that has been set up at the hospital for Ebola.

This doctor is about the best patient we could hope for to have our people get hands on experience in our own setting.

***********************

All very confusing. Dr. Brantley & Writebol are said to be in “grave” condition ..... Samaritan’s Purse, day before yesterday or yesterday was talking about being grateful Dr. Brantley and Writebol “made it through the night”. I find it somewhat incredulous to think he “walked” into the hospital. I saw the pic - could easily have been Emory staff.

I couldn’t disagree with you more. This doctor, no matter what his motivation was, knew the risks. This has been going on long enough in west Africa that the Samaritan Purse, WHO, or anyone else who wanted to help could have set up a Quarantined medical center and poured their resources into that place. To intentionally jump the disease to unaffected continents is the height of irresponsibility, and we will likely all live to regret this action.
