As a child, Lindsay Leigh Bentley desperately wanted to be a boy. She refused to wear dresses and adored going hunting with her dad. She loved sticks, guns, motorcycles and monsters. She chopped the hair off her Barbies. Her parents had to cut her own hair short because she refused to let them brush it. Her best friends were boys. In childhood pictures, she looks fierce, and tough as nails.
These days, her worried parents would probably hustle her off to the nearest gender-identity clinic. But Lindsay grew up in a more backward age, when such things did not exist. So she had to struggle on as best she could. Her parents let her be herself. Today she is a (strikingly feminine) wife and mother who still loves hunting and football. “Had my parents decided, at age 5, that I was a boy, I can not imagine the confusion that I would have experienced during my teen years,” she writes on her blog.
Ms. Bentley decided to tell her story after Ryland Whittington, age 6, became a child celebrity this spring. Ryland, too, was desperate to be a boy. After consulting a therapist, Ryland’s parents cut her hair, began to call her “he,” and informed their friends and family that their daughter was now their son. They made a video showing Ryland’s transformation into a little man in a suit. It went viral.
“There are huge benefits of doing this earlier in life,” gender therapist Darlene Tando told ABC News, which publicized Ryland’s story on Good Morning America. “It’s really just like they have been given this gift that everyone around them starts seeing them for who they are.”
The Whittingtons were widely applauded for their total acceptance of their transgender son.

Transgenders. First to decry gender stereotyping while being the first to utilize gender stereotypes to decide their “true” gender.
Because a girl like hunting and rough housing it doesn’t mean she must hate her uterus and wants testicles.
Last night for grins I watched Ed Wood’s Glen or Glenda. He tries to make the case that dressing up like a woman is completely normal, that nature makes mistakes sometimes. Men who should be born women and are born men.
“The transvestite is not interested in those of their own sex. The clothing is not worn to attract the attention of their own sex, but to eliminate themselves from being a member of that sex.”
Then he shows this guy who’s going to marry a woman and is holding this secret, he likes to dress up as a woman. Ugliest woman you ever saw. His problem, he must tell this to his fiancé. But how? Blah blah blah.
They show the guy in woman’s clothes often, and to tell the truth he comes off like a lunatic. The movie ends with the woman marrying him and understanding him, helping him to move on from this behavior. A point the ‘transgender’s would not like. After all, it is not a mistake, it’s normal, (today’s philosophy, presented as ‘scientific fact’).
Ed Wood did do this. He would dress in woman’s clothing. His wife divorced him for it.

1) You can't change your gender: Have you ever heard of Body Integrity Identity Disorder? Long story short, there are people out there who believe they're "supposed to" have less limbs. Maybe they want to get rid of an arm or a leg. The "problem" these people run into is that surgeons consider it unethical to remove a healthy, functioning body part and refuse to saw off their limbs. Instead, they just refer these people to a psychologist. That seems to make sense, doesn't it? Yet, when we have people who want to mutilate themselves to "change their sex," we don't treat that as a mental disorder. Instead, we take it seriously. So seriously in fact, we have 9 year olds getting hormone treatments so they can pretend to be another gender.
If a client went to a doctor and said he thought he was a cow, we wouldn't send him to a surgeon to get horns and udders attached. Yet, you can no more change your sex than you can change into a cow. Even if you have a "sex change," your sex hasn't actually changed. A man who mutilates himself to look like a woman, still isn't female. He can't have a child. Very few men are going to knowingly date a man who's surgically mutilated himself to look like a woman. This is a terrible, horrible thing we're doing as a society to these mentally ill people. Instead of getting them the mental help they need, we're catering to their pathology. It's cruel, it's wrong, and a more compassionate society wouldn't wallow so deeply in political correctness that we'd allow people to do this to themselves.
There's a benefit to untreated mental illness?
It's a gift? If everyone around them is sharing their delusion that's called mass psychosis - not Christmas.

Sexuality/gender/etc. is a continuum, they tell us...until Sam wants to be Shirley and only dresses and heels will suffice.
The rocks on my garden have declared themselves to be gold nuggets.
I keep taking them to the gold exchange places to exchange the for money. I tell the gold exchange people that they are no longer rocks but ounces and ounces of gold.
For some reason this does not work. I don’t know why.
