Until the end of August, Reformation Trust is giving away the ebook edition of R.C. Sproul’s Surprised by Suffering: The Role of Pain and Death in the Christian Life.

In Surprised by Suffering, R.C. Sproul argues that we should expect pain and sorrow in this life. Some are actually called to a “vocation” of suffering, and all of us are called to undergo the ultimate suffering of death. God promises in His Word that difficult times will come upon us, but He also promises that He allows suffering for our good and His glory, and He will never give us more than we can bear with His help.

(Excerpt) Read more at ligonier.org ...

TOPICS: Culture/Society; News/Current Events
KEYWORDS: fear; god; religion; truth
Available in August as a Free Download

from the Ligonier Store; from Amazon; and from iTunes.

I did not realize his books were already public domain or at least free.

Suffering certainly builds character.

How we deal with suffering is a testament to our emotional IQ, I believe. We know God’s promise. We know who wins the war. That is really all that matters at the end of the day.

Ronald Reagan was a man who could smile at adversity, and lovingly taunt his enemies. That was a man of character.

Depends upon whether or not you live in a country with civilized copyright law or nor. Both Canada and Austrailia have much more sane copyright laws than the U.S.

Both of those countries have books coming in to the public domain over the next few years that we will never see in the United Corporate States of America, at least in the liferime of just about anyone reading this. The PG Austrailia site has a bunch of Orwell's stuff online, though they don't have epubs, although I've seriously thought about working up the conversion for them.

Please ask me if I care about copyright for authors who have beed dead for fifty years.

I agree for the most part, the system definitely needs to be changed. I can see how companies that still rake in a ton of money on some properties can still have them copyright though.

snagged a copy, thank you.

Hopefully it won't be pointedly useful anytime soon.
